Something to do with the 'view' mode ... go to the 'view' pull-down menu & select 'normal' should fix it ..

You have activated a viewing option called 'Show All'. Basically, it replaces all invisible characters (i.e. spaces, indents, etc.) with a symbol that you can see.

The key you probably pressed was Ctrl + * .

To undo this option, all you have to do is press the Ctrl (control) key and the * key at the same time. [You may have to press Ctrl and Shift and * to get this to work.

Its a formatting option. I don't really remember the name coz i don't use it much... but look at the toolbar on top of your document and see what icons are 'on'. There would be one with a solid-bold-vertical double line. You need to toggle this to fix the issue.

By the way, when you print your document, these dots and arrows won't appear.

Go to Tools, Customize, Commands, View, Show All
Click this symbol and the dot will be gone.

Find the Word toolbar. Click on the symbol that looks like Pi.

If you look on the top line of your toolbar,(top right of your screen, next to the page sizing) you will see a backwards facing P. Just click it and they will disappear. These are non printing characters. They just show all your keystrokes.
