I cannot affort a vet. My cat is drinking, but meows when is picked up. Looks dull and in discomfort. I suspect that his tummy is sore. I have not seen him use the litter. He has been sick but brought up just a watery solution as he has not eaten for several days. What can I use to rehydrate him? He is about three years old and has never been a big or vigorous cat unlike his playmate and housemate. But he is very, very loving and it is breaking my heart to see him like this. Is there any help out there please. If you need to know more please email me. Thank you Sylvia.

He needs a vet. Besides whatever is causing this, cats that go without food too long get liver disease. He'll also quite likely need to be put on a drip if he hasn't been drinking. If you can't afford a vet, call one and see if you can arrange a payment plan. Or find out what charity/humane society clinics there are in your area (the vet may be able to help with that too).

I would suggest you find it in your budget to get to the vet. If you explain the situation to the vet's office, they may allow you to make payments. It sounds to me like you have a sick little kitty on your hands. 4 days without eating? Has your cat lost weight? The vomitting and loack of appetite would scare me personally...I don't think trying to rememdy the situation at home without knowing for sure what the problem is, is in the best interest of the cat. If you are sure it was bike grease... I would call your local poison control center and see what they know.
The cat meows when you pick him up because he is trying to tell you something... " mommy I am sick, help me "
There are appetite stimulants available at pet stores, but again, without knowing the true problem, that may not be best. It may be a blockage in his intestines and food would only complicate it.
Vets love animals and don't want to see them suffer, swallow your pride and call on one to do the right thing here and help your little guy.

you do not say where you live Sylvia, if in the UK you can contact the RSPCA or PDSA both will help with a sick animal, if you live else where there must be an equivalent try Internet search for animal charities.
In England there is also the Cat Protection League

oh my gosh honey!!! i can understand not bein able to afford a vet visit. You can try calling a low cost vet. Look around they're out there. Also it is crucial you keep ICIPICAT in your home. It's very inexpensive and can get it at any drug store or grocery store. Icipicat is what you give your cat when they have injested poison or something. get some of that emmidiatly and give it to your cat. get that kitty better!!! good luck!

Please find it within your means to take your cat to the vet, this is very serious. If you really love him, since you said it is breaking your heart to see him like this, you want him to get better. You CAN'T fix this yourself. Most vets will allow you to make payments or you can also you a thing called CareCredit. You can apply and choose from thousands of providers to care for your cat. It's like a credit card, but it is just for your pet and you can make low monthly payments to help get your cat the care it needs. There is no interest payment plans for true flexibility if you need it. The website is www.carecredit.com or call 1-866-893-7864.

Please, please get your cat some help!

IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO TAKE YOUR ILL ANIMAL TO THE VET THEN YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE THE PET IN YOUR CARE! YOU ARE LETTING YOUR POOR CAT SUFFER FOR DAYS BECAUSE OF THIS.
Call the RSPCA or PDSA (look in the phone book for your local branches)
Please do this ASAP and do not let your cat suffer any more than needed.

This could be serious. If his bladder is blocked and he can't urinate, he will die. Don't force anything by mouth if he is vomiting, it will only make him worse. Try to borrow money from a friend or family member to at least pay for the office visit and go to the emergency hospital. Many have CareCredit and will let you make payments. If this is serious, it could be very expensive, but at least he won't die a horrible death in pain. Sorry to be blunt, but it doesn't sound good from what you described.

The only thing I can think of is for you to put some cat food or something cats can eat in a blender to make it all watery and then feed it to him in one of those things they use to feed baby animals, I cant recall the name of it but hopefully you know what I mean. Did you call poison control??
