Yes - it's called attempted murder.

Well, independant states can have different laws, but to the best of my knowledge, in California it is not criminally illegal. However, let's say that you dont tell someone and you transmit a disease to them, then you can be civilly liable in court, meaning that the other person could sue you for any and all damages incurred. ie: medical costs, emotional duress, and of course lawyer fees. But I'm just a cop, ask a lawyer. I had a case where the suspect had received MRSA from his friend the victim, who did not tell the suspect he had the desease. When the suspect found out that he now had the disease and that it was his friend who gave it to him, he went over to his house and beat him up fracturing the victim's facial bones. The suspect was arrested on 3 felony counts.

The HIV scenario you list IS a crime. If you can show that they knew they were HIV positive and had sex without making the partner aware.. Serious crime.

If you have HIV and you have sex with a partner without informing them, you can be arrested for assult and if they contract the disease and die, you can also be charged with manslaughter or second degree murder.

Yes it is. We have a court case here in which the man is being charged with attempted murder for not telling his partner he had Aids.

Check your particular state laws. Its either attempted murder or attempted manslaughter. If the other person dies as a result, delete the word "attempted."

Yes and it is a jail sentence. Better to tell and take your chances.
