The Bible says "there is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" Gal 3:28 i.e there must be no distinction once you become a christian. Also God implores men to "love your wife as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her" Eph 5:25 this honours women and commands men to sacrifice themselves for their wife (not literally as in death of course but in their lives).
If christians don't do this that is not God's fault, his wishes are clear.

Not as true as you think ,
While it is true a lot of women in the bible are portrayed as evil and/or prostitutes , there are 2 books completely devoted to them . The book of Ruth and the book of Esther . Christ also says that the husband must love his wife like Christ loves the church . Lets not also forget the 10 commandments . You're looking at all the negative ( probably because some idiot got into your mind ) without judging it for yourself . To be fair , the only thing that I can see you getting angry at , is that God said the man is the head of the household , but I think that was for good reason too . A father doesn't have that special connection to a child like a mother does so he should be the one working while the mother raises the kids . I can see though in this day and age where people can get annoyed at that .

Can you offer specific examples? My religious book, the Quran, explicitly spells out many times that no man or woman is superior to another, except in faith and good works.
I know that in the Bible, Paul wrote some fairly misogynistic statements, but I don't think all Christians consider Paul to be divine writing, just a guide. Paul also wrote that people shouldn't get married unless the temptation to sin is so strong that they can't avoid it, so I don't think his purpose was to keep women subjugated for sex.

Most religious books were written by men; I have yet to read anywhere that a certain text was written by a female. If there was, how come there's little mention of it?
Also, I think it's because the issue of women not supposedly being strong enough. By that I mean, not just physically but as emotionally and mentally.

First, we were all made in the image of God. If you actually take the time to read and study the bible, you will find numerous passages and books that reference the strength and character of women. If you read text like Ephesians that refer to wives submitting to their husbands out of respect, but do not read the surrounding scripture, then you are getting a screwed up perspective. Even Eve wasn't painted in a bad light in the bible like people think. Eve was deceived but Adam chose to disobey God.

To draw in the men. Some weak men think it's great that there is a book which gives them 'justification' for claiming to be superior. It's a quick draw for up to 50% of the world's population.

Because most of the traditional faiths were written in times when women were not equals in society. That's the reason and nothing else. It's hogwash...at our core we are all the same. We have a piece of God within us called the soul.

Because ancient religious texts reflect the customs of their time. Women have only recently been considered as equals to men, and even then just in certain cultures.

BECAUSE THEY WERE WRITTEN BY MEN!!! Just look at what they did to Lilith in the Christian Bible. Lilith, Adam's first wife. She was strong willed and refused to lie beneath Adam and left him. Therefore, as a result, she was demonized. Eve was then created out of Adam's rib which made her his property. If this isn't a creation of man I don't know what is.

Not all religious books are negative toward women; it's mostly the Jewish / Christian / Muslim texts. I.e. those who have done away with the concept of a goddess.
