But then a few hours after talking with them I start to loose that connection. I recently began reading the bible again-old testament--and all the anger that God has and the killing I read about makes no sense to me at all. Why would God be a jealous God? I can see I am still along way off in my quest for knowledge. It sucks I do want so badly to believe but just can't seem to get it straight within my mind. People has been sending many websites that proves the bible is faultly spots and it does make some sense to me. Perhaps I am one of the lost ones.

You are not small an insignificant. I feel you have helped me out. While I don't fully see the light yet I do feel I have improved in some way. I have read the bible two days in a row which might seem like no big deal to you but for me it was a monsterous step. I am still not sure where I am headed yet but it is people like you who at least accept me! God bless you.

You just have to trust and believe that there is a reason for everything in the bible and the reason is not hate or confusion. God hates sin, not the sinner. I have often wondered about these accounts too but just know in my heart that God is not a mean God. You are not just a lost person. I was once lost too, I did not grow up in a christian home with the perfect little life that you might think. I have suffered abuse in many ways from my father and others. My husband, mother, sister and father all came to God some time after I did. It has been a very hard walk but it gets easier for me every day. Sometimes the very thing that gets me through the day is knowing this life is temporary and the next one will be so much more than i can ever imagine. I cannot wait to get there, if it were not for my children and other family would cry out to God and ask him to take me home now. This world is so full of hate, and yet I sometimes think I can even make a small difference. Sometimes that feeling is the very thing that drives me but sometimes it is my own demise as I think how small and insignificant I am and can make no difference. Know that the answers in yor heart are real, even more so real than any written word. As you grow in your faith you will understand more about the bible and whether to take it literally or not in some areas. Just don't let it be the very thing that turns you away again, please!

You should read the New Testament first...like the book of John. Most of the Old Testament was made moot when Jesus died on the cross. God speaks through these Christians and maybe He's hinting that you need to start reading and praying for understanding right away. It takes alot of discipline to read and pray daily but you'll be blessed by it. God is jealous when His children don't put Him first in their lives. We are all babies in Christ. I've been a Christian 40 years and am still disobedient. I know now that my life would have been so much easier had I just obeyed His promptings. Don't give up. Satan works hardest on those he fears most! You have a purpose! Find your passion and let God lead you. You are not lost otherwise you wouldn't feel a need to continue searching.

The old testament is to show a person what can happen if people do not follow the laws that they are given. Exodus will show you the laws to follow and point to the fact that you need a saviour. Then read the book of John in the new testament, it was written for non believing Jews and Gentiles. It will shine a light to how you can be forgiven and that there is a saviour in Jesus Christ, that first you must realise that you have broken the laws, and if you repent whimch means to turn from sin and realise that the road may not be easy and put all of your faith into Jesus that He will make a room for you in the New Jerusluem (book of Revelation Chapter 21) and that you can and will be forgiven. If you still have questions I suggest the following two audio file on the following web site.

then listen to false conversion

That should help you get a better understanding of where you stand and what comes next.

Like I said it my other answers to your quesstions there is a spiritual battle going on. God longs to have you enter a relationship with Him and Satan tries to hinder you from doing so. When you become a follower of Jesus and commit your life to Him, He gives you His Holy Spirit, to live inside you and teach you and help you live a life pleasing to God.

I, too, would suggest that you start reading the New Testament first, because Jesus is God in human form. Observe Jesus' life and His interaction with people and you will see how good and perfect and loving He is.

I will be praying for you every day and have you in my contact list, so I can see when you post a question.
No, you are not a lost one. In fact we all are lost until we are found by God. I believe God is pursuing you and I can see that you have a tender heart toward Him. Keep reading His word and talk to Him in prayer.
Talk to Him like you would to a friend, invisible in this case, but not absent. Ask Him your questions, tell Him what doesn't make sense to you and share your joys and struggles with Him. He wants to be your forever-friend. And be still and listen, He will speak to your mind and heart and also through His Word.

I give you so much credit for trying. I also suggest that you go to a priest and tell him about how you are feeling. Join a Bible study and associate with people that won't put false doubts in your mind. If your trying this hard and you hang out with people that don't believe in God it might give you that much of a % to have doubt.
Humans did not write the Bible...they were inspired by God. So, keep that in mind when you read the Bible. Keep your heart open to recieve the information that you read.

Friend if you have truely repented of your sins & baptized in water by complete immursion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ & have received the Holy Ghost then In due time God will reveal to you his word. Because the Holy Ghost is the spirit of truth. We do not learn it all over night, I have been a Christian for 37 years & I am still learning, & what I am still learning is just a add on to the word of God that I do see. I would think that I have served God longer than 98% of the people on this site that is not 37 yrs. old Many on this ite are young people, I am 57, & a Christian for 37 yrs.

If you read the context in which those passages are written, you'll see (hopefully) that alot of the killings that God ordered the Israelites to carry out were against heathen peoples who had committed some atrocity against the Israelites.
For example, a while back some atheist asked about the killing of the Amelakites and God's strict order to wipe out all life-including women and infants-among them. She kept going on and on about what an injustice this was on God's part. Yet, and true to atheist form, she very conveniently left out the part about how the Amelakites, a blood-thirsty and merciless horde of heathens, were the first people to distinguish themselves by mercilessly slaughtering all the stragglers at the end of the column of Israelites who had just left Egypt. This included the murder of innocent men, women, and children/infants, and all totally unprovoked by the Israelites. On top of all this, the scene she was describing happened five-hundred years after the fact!!! Worse yet, it was all too clear that this "enlightened" R&S regular's sympathy fell clearly for the murdering Amelakites. This is arrogance and anti-God bias personified. That girl was just completely stupid and obviously trolling for support to rationalize her irrational "position" which I utterly destroyed.
I know we live in strange times where words like "tolerance" and "acceptance" are the fashion, but being a logical and rational critcal thinker is not only the ideal, but also NOT a sin.
I have yet to find fault with the bible. A while back some clown posted a ten-mile long list of so-called "biblical contradictions", and I went down about half the list while referencing the alledged "contradictions", and it was a joke. In just about all that I had read off this list, he had misquoted, and badly so, from a book that was right in front of him!!! When I pointed it out to him, what was his response?? The usual atheist retort that there must be something wrong with my "eyesight". Rather than admit he was wrong, he went on to make himself look like the biggest donkey's as.s possible, as alot of the e-mails I got that night were from people who told me that this guy was a total jerk, and it was time someone called him out and put him in his place.
The fact that you're searching,as you indicate that you are, is no evidence that you are "one of the lost ones".
I'm not going to preach to you, but examine yourself and be honest with yourself about what your priorities are and where your loyalties should rise to.

God is our Protector. when you mention all the killing and anger, think of the message: God will not tolerate ANYONE messing with His people. why would God be jealous? if i would have gone to my buddy's house and stayed there all the time, and called my buddy's mother ''mom,'' instead of calling my own mother that, instead of giving her that respect, my mom would have been jealous. and if you're having trouble strengthening your faith, the last thing you should do is visit these websites that have been sent to you by people who are hell-bent on disproving the bible. there ARE no faults in the bible, only people who refuse to take heed to the wisdom provided in it.

www.gotquestions.org is a good site that can answer most (if not all) of your questions about the bible.

Simple answer is that you are seeking and the adversary wants to keep you from seeking. What is God jealous of? That too is simple. We were created for His pleasure and service, but we aren't and don't. Since that is what He longs for, He's jealous of what we choose to serve and bring pleasure to.

More complicated answer - stop listening to those that give you websites of "contridictions". If you follow those rabbit trails to their full end, you'll find they aren't contridictions. They are taken way out of context to serve the authors own devices. 2nd - start reading Mark. Since it is the shortest gospel, it's a good place to start. Don't skip the Old Testament, but start in the new. You'll get a different perspective on the Old when you start with the fulfillment of prophesy in Jesus Christ.

Progeny, please start reading the New Testament....without it,you will never possibly understand the Old(This is where the Jews are in error)

Most importantly, seek God for yourself..Pray and ask God to reveal himself, personally to you, through his Son,Jesus.

Also, remember, many of us may end up dissapointing you,as we are not perfect examples of Jesus Christ..Myself included
