I was taking them for a broken tooth and I think I over did it. I have never used them before in such a way and am hoping someone has some suggestions to make my cramps go away. Thanks

Yes the Vicodin can cause leg cramps. Vicodin contains Acetaminophen/Tylenol which in large doses is lethal. Never ever take more Vicodin then prescribed. When I was a teen I overdosed on Tylenol and had to be treated in the ER. My legs had terrible cramps for days later. I learned that Tylenol in large doses becomes toxic in the blood stream and causes you heart to explode. If the Vicodin is not sufficient for the pain try taking it with Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is often used to relieve dental pain and combined with the Vicodin may be more effective for you and they are safe to take together. For the leg cramps I would suggest a warm Epsom salt bath, stretches, and a walk. I have read that stretching after a bath or shower is easier because the muscles are warmed up. And again do not take an more medication that what is prescribed or on the instructions of an over the counter medications.

Vicodin will not cause cramps like you describe. What might happen however, is the vicodin will cause you to be more sedentary than you ordinarily are and a phlebitis or blood clot may have formed in one of your legs. Suggest you see a doctor asap, the clot can break loose and go straight to your lungs, it can be fatal.

I can not express the importance of following the directions to a T when taking meds for pain. You need to call the doctor's office tomorrow & express your concerns or call the ER & ask to speak to a doctor or nurse on call.
