My daughter loves Chesters Way, Lilly's Big Day, all of the books by Kevin Henkes, also there is a book called Scaredy Squirrel by Melanie Watts and it is a cute story about a squirrel that is afraid to leave his nut tree and he has an emergency kit prepared in case he has to leave with no other options. One day a killer bee appears and he has to leave his tree and from there the drama ensues. In the end he realizes he was scared for nothing because the world is not so scary. The woman who wrote it is an agoraphobic so it is really cute. Okay and sorry to be so long but the other book is Skippy Jon Jones by Judy Schachner. It is about a siamese cat who pretends he is a chihuahua. Hope that helps

My favorite kids book is the Phantom Toll Booth. It was the first real book I read as a child and at 41 I still have that original copy. I have to admit I break it out every once and read it now even at my age.
I know that early experience is one of the reasons I love reading and writing storties and poetry today.
I can't wait till my five year old starts reading so I can sit with him and read it with him some day.

Depends on how old your child is. My 13 y.o loved the Kissing hand until he was like 8. Now is all about Halo 2 hahaha. My 2 y.o loves all the Dr. Seus books.

Both my daughters (6+7 years old) favorite book is "Big Sister and Little Sister" by Charlotte Zolotow. We often substitute their names in place of the characters in the book and they love that!
Other favorites are:
"I'll Always Love You" by Hans Wilhelm. It is a book that deals with death of a beloved pet. We like this one because the pet is a dachshund...just like our own little dog!
Series of books that we like are:
"Curious George" by H.A. and Margret Rey.
"Froggy" by Jonathan London and Frank Remkiewicz.
"George and Martha" by James Marshall.
and our absolute favorite series is:
"The Berenstain Bears" by Stan and Jan Berenstain.
Of course traditional fairy tales are always good ones here too! I suggest "Brighter Child Keepsake Story" series if you are looking for fairytales. They have "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" by Candice Ransom, "The Little Red Hen" by Carol Ottolenghi, "The Gingerbread Man" by Catherine Mccafferty, "The Three Little Pigs" by Patricia Seibert, and many more! They are wonderfully illustrated for little ones.
Good luck!

My kids like the "cha cha chimps". I love "The Giving Tree". As a Christian I think it does a wonderful job of teaching about sacrifice and love.

My daughter(5yrs old) often asks me to tell her a story. I make up stories and every one gets better results than the last one.
