My son was a disgruntled teenager who decided that he didnt like the rules at home and to live elsewhere. These guardians said they wouldnt take support from me and just wanted to see him get thru school. After the court date they were the first to the child support office. Next I loaned them my insurance card which i used for his sister living at home. They refused to give it back. Next they started hanging up on me and refused to let me speak to him. Now my mother who lives in the stoneage, invited these so called people to our graduation party for him. I think its an insult especially the way I was treated by these people. Oh and I forgot to mention, after they started recieving support (900 dollars/mo) they all of a sudden could afford a brand new suv. She works as a desk receptionist at a hotel and he works once in a while. 2 kids in college. What can a person do about this so they dont mooch off of another family?

You know some people are so ignorant like the one who answered my question. He claimed that the state had to go after me. On the contrary my friend. My son recieved 7500 dollars from me that school year and the guardians had recieved several thousands of dollars before that because she said she didnt want support from me. Your a fricking moron

First off if they approached the state for money to support then I doubt very much that you offered them financial help with the kid.The state probably has already come after your paycheck to be reimbursed otherwise how would you know how much they recieve for him?Secondly you said he was 17 when he moved out and is now graduating.I doubt that the $900/month they recieve for him will last very long since any support he is recieving will no longer be coming in since he must be 18 by now or is very close to being.I doubt they took a loan on a brand new suv based soley on the money they recieve for providing your son a roof over his head.Uninvite them to the party. It's your son who will suffer here and he is legally old enough to make his own decisions on who he will "put to the curb". Is the risk worth it? You sound very selfish.

Reply to dees addition: Dee the state doesn't just hand out money to kids who are already being supported nor do they hand out information as to how much they are giving a family to raise a kid that isn't their own.Where did these figures come from? It doesn't sound like you have enough communication with these people to know that much information. If you feel these people are mooching off you to gain financialy then you shouldn't even be asking here when you can go get them investigated. If you think my answer was ignorant then the simple solution is don't go online asking for anonymous answers. You sound like you are leaving a lot of details out yet you are seeking a shoulder to cry on.That is my oppinion and this forum is based on oppinions offered as answers.I stand by my comment on $900/month for a 17 year old would not push them into buying a vehicle they normally could not afford. They will lose that $900 when this child graduates or turns 18.Whichever should come first.

What does your son want? That should be what you should be thinking about. He is 17 and he needs to be the one that should make that choice. If they took care of him no matter what your thoughts are he should be the one making that decision. What they did was wrong but this is what happened. Your son will see all of this later in life but the most important thing that he will see is that you let him make a choice and you stood by him when he needed you. Swallow your pride and let him make the choice and under your breath while they are there and you are being there for your son you can say what ever you want with a smile on your face and make it through one of the biggest days of your sons life.

Check with an attorney to see if there's something legal you can do
