The answer to my other question was great, thanks so much KaeZoo.

Anyway, if I go get another radio installed in my Camaro, do I need the unlock code for my radio for the theftlock? I think I understand that you only need the theftlock for the factory radio and that if I remove the factory radio and then put the factory radio back in it'll ask for the code. But I just want to make sure I don't need to enter the code to allow the factory radio to be successfully removed, and a new store bought radio to be successfully installed.

Thanks for the help so much.

Your first impression is correct. You only need the code when you're putting the factory radio back in.

In fact, you might not need the code at all. The Theftlock system is disabled by default; the car owner has to program it on before it will activate. If the red light on your factory radio doesn't blink, then chances are your Theftlock system is inactive and the radio will work when you re-install it, even without a code.

If the Theftlock system is turned on, then a GM dealer can reset the radio for you (for a fee) after it's re-installed. But until then, you don't have to do anything special to make the after-market radio work.
