Depends which church you are speaking of. As far as I know, no Christian church would forbid the attendance of a menstruating woman.
However, the traditional Jewish laws stated that a woman menstruating was "unclean", and had to be isolated from the community until after her period. I'm sure she wouldn't have been allowed in the synagogue during that time. But even still, it may be true that more modern Jews have relaxed this rule. Not sure what Islamic or Hindu laws say, but if your previous experience with Hinduism was typical, I guess they consider a menstruating woman "unclean" as well.

It is the same in Native American society in a way. A woman on her moon may attend ceremonies but may not participate. This is due to her fragile state. This time is considered sacred for a woman and she is to rest.

Yes it doesn't matter if you have period or not. it the same when you have your period you can go to work because you need money because you know that important. the same with church if you know it important you will still go no matter what.
