I'm a christian. I'm having trouble with pornography. Every time I look at porn, after I tell god to forgive me. When I ask god to forgive me I really mean it. I try to stop viewing porn for a couple of days, but then I suddenly get caught back in sin. I start looking at it again! Once again I repent. But I want to completely stop looking at porn! I need help.

Repetitive sin is a problem for all Christians. Our nature (that of sin) does not go away when we embrace Christ.

Turning from sin is difficult. You are capable of it but if you find it to be too much you should seek help from your church (perhaps just speak to your minister privately), pray, and perhaps seek out therapy (not that you have mental problems but that an addiction to pornography and the breaking of it is documented to be difficult and usually requires assistance).

Porn, like anything else is an addiction. If you continue to commit the same sin then you aren't repenting. What you need to do is treat is like an addiction. An alcoholic recovering doesn't go to places where he will be tempted (he stays away from bars and even friends he drank with). If your porn source is the internet, shut if off. If it is magazines, don't go to places that sell them and get rid of anything you have at your home. Why would someone trying to lose weight, live in a house stockpiled with oreos. It won't work. Good luck, God bless.

Unfortunately, you will probably not be able to stop on your own. Believe me I know. I started the sin until it became a habitual thing and then expected God to clean up the mess I made. Talk to your pastor, or youth leader. It is very hard to get up the courage to do this but they will know what to do. Pornography is a big problem in todays society so they have had experience in this area. You will feel like a huge weight is off your shoulders. You are not a bad person like I know you feel you are you just need some help with this battle.

Sin is an outdated concept. Don't be lazy and just base your life on what some yahoos said was right and wrong 2000 years ago. You have a brain. Try using it.

Porn is not something you should feel guilty about. It's just pictures of bodies. All this means is that you have the normal set of hormones that everybody else is born with.

Religion uses such emotions to control people. It's a way of keeping people in the pews giving money. Feeling guilty about sexuality is feeling guilty about being human.

There's no reason you should stop looking at porn. It's a healthy outlet for pent up hormones. The human body can be very enjoyable. You're doing harm to nobody by looking at it.

Granted you need help if you are addicted to porn or indeed anything, but where in the bible does it forbid you to do so. Ok your not supposed to be lustful towards anothers wife (commandments etc) but is it not just said it is a sin rather than it actually being written.

You have to take a good look at what is written and what is interpreted to be written.

God will eventually pull you out of it. God has provided that with age (and trust in God) these impulses start to go away.

If you do not keep on asking God, that is giving up, and God doesn't want that.

"And I have the keys of hell and death, signifies that He alone can save. By "keys" is signified the power of opening and shutting; here the power of opening hell, that man may be brought forth, and of shutting, lest, when he is brought forth, he should enter again. For man is born in evils of all kinds, thus in hell, for evils are hell; he is brought out of it by the Lord, to whom belongs the power of opening it. That by "having the keys of hell and death," is not meant the power of casting into hell, but the power of saving, is because it immediately follows after these words:

Behold, I am alive for ages of ages;

by which is signified that He alone is eternal life (n. 60); and the Lord never casts anyone into hell, but man casts himself. By "keys" is signified the power of opening and shutting, in Revelation also (3:7; 9:1; 20:1; also in Isa. 22:21, 22; in Matt. 16:19; and in Luke 11:52). The power of the Lord is not only over heaven, but also over hell; for hell is kept in order and connection by oppositions against heaven; for which reason, He who rules the one must necessarily rule the other; otherwise man could not be saved; to be saved is to be brought out of hell" (Apocalypse Revealed n. 62).
