I had poison ivy last year all over my hands and it sucked. I bought every over the counter crap I could and none really worked. I then went to the doctor and they gave me some pils. I think it was a type of steroids. It started working almost immediately. For the itching I would take benadryl. They have this stuff called ivy dry that worked quite well. Try to not let the blisters or the ooze touch other parts of your body. Also try not to cover it up with clothing. Aveeno also worked quite well.

Don't scratch it. I know it's so hard, but try not to because it could get infected. There are OTC lotions for poison ivy/oak/sumac that work pretty well with the itching. Just keep the area clean and apply the lotion as directed. Poison ivy usually clears up in a few days. If the rash starts spreading up your legs, though, it might be something other than poison ivy and you should go to your doctor. If you're sure it's poison ivy and the itching is really unbearable or it gets very red and swollen, you should go to the doctor.

Whenever I get into the stuff I take bleach bath. 1/2 cup bleach to a normal bath ( make sure the water is warm and the bleach is well mixed). You could use the same ratio for a foot bath, or a heavily diluted bleach solution to apply as a topical application.

My grandson just went through that except it was from head to toe. He had to go to the dr. They recommended benedryl and gave him a prescription for cortisone cream to apply to the skin. Good luck, it is horrible.

Take Benedryl, this will treat the histemic reaction internally. Use Zanfel, it is a topical ointment that will stop the itch and get rid of the poison.

Apply calamine lotion and don't scratch it. caise you could get an infection. Scratching could also spread the rash over a wider area.. Good luck.

Calomine lotion. Don't scratch or it will spread even further. Check with a dermatologist they may have something that will dry it up faster.
