I guess it all depends on why you want a second piercing. If you are doing it because you think you like the way it looks and you will take care of it yourself I don't see the problem. However, if you are doing it because your friends are, then I think you should rethink it. As far as getting into schools, No, I don't think ears are what schools take as rebellious. Schools look at other piercings as rebellious, like lip, tongue, eyebrows, and cheeks. I would sit with your dad and tell him why it is important to you.

No one cares about appearance at any college, it's the amount of money you're putting into the school. I've seen people accepted without high school diplomas and/ or SAT's.

I don't think any number of piercings on the ear is scandalous by today's standards. Maybe your dad is conservative and isn't used to seeing any kind of body modification. Just tell him if it really is true what he said about getting into schools, then NOW is the time to do all this stuff and not later when you're applying for school. Because by then you'll not only be attending classes but looking for internships and THAT's where appearance really counts!

Your window for being young is very small so use it up and do the things you'll never get do to once you get a job in the real world. (nothing illegal, of course!)

If your parents are for it and you have the money to pay for it, it is not too young.

What schools are you talking about? If it is a private school that requires a dress code, then he is right. If it is a public school, well that does not really matter for when I went, alot of people will do so.

No...not at all...I know this sounds really scary but 12 is the new 16...now 12 is too young for like body piercings but not for just normal ear or cartlidge piercings

i had a double piercing in my ears when i was 5 and had my upper ear pierced when i was eight.

i guess it all depends on what school he's talking about. if it's a private school, he may be right. those schools have rules on how much jewelry you can where and how to wear it. it's pretty dumb, but they're not government funded and can do whatever they want.

My popular athletic, overachiever sister has had three piercings in at least one ear since the age of twelve. She has her pick of schools.

With that said, I think you should listen to your dad if he tells you no. It's his house you are living in and when you have your own, then you can decide how many holes to put in your ears, missy. :)

At twelve your dad is the boss, get use to obeying orders and advice from your elders.

Possibly, but depends on how your parents and friends react to it.
