I know that in the community that people with pressure ulcers have the ulcer photographed using a mobile phone. This helps in the continuity of care and to ensure that interventions are effective. Pagers are used in hospitals in which to coommunicate to medical team that they are needed on a ward. Pagers are also used by care staff in care homes as a nurse call system. Mobile phones are also used in the community when working with service users to alert support workers to go to a particular client or to check if the client is in. In hospital, the patient may use the ward phone to communicate with relatives etc. Laptops and computers are useful, in that service users can communicate with other service users and learn about support groups etc in their area. Mobile phones can be used to set alarms to remind service user to take medications etc. Support worker can text service user to remind them to lock doors etc before going to bed.
