Everyone has different reactions to Memorial Day and each one is valid. If you feel depressed, you have the right to. I always have mixed emotions. I enjoy it because I get a paid day off. I enjoy it because I appear in a local parade every year and it's loads of fun. It also makes me a little sad knowing that this day is celebrated because people lost their lives during military service - many of these lives lost I don't feel were waranted. It's also a day to be thankful for those currently in military service for doing the job they feel is right to help protect our country and our freedom.

Don't let anyone tell you that what you're feeling is wrong. You are entitled to feel however you want. You are not dishonoring Memorial Day be feeling a bit depressed. You are recognizing that it's not an entirely happy holiday. It's not supposed to be.

It is ok to depress you because veterans are remembered on this day, those dead and alive. Besides that the gas prices go up, traffic is a mess and the police is out to get you, so yeah there are a few reasons not to like Memorial Day Weekend.

Where in the world did you come up with this question??

My husband served in Desert Strom, and I love Memorial Day weekend, it gives me a chance to honor him and to love him and to remember what he did to protect all of us during his time over there in Iraq. And to count my blessings that he made it home safely to me and my daughter!

My heart today, goes out to the many families and relatives and husbands and wives and uncles and mothers and daddys who are serving there and to the families who have lost loved ones during this terrible time!!!!!

Memorial day is for remembering ALL of those who have fought for our country in the past and now, and for those who have perished fighting for our country.

My heart, my soul, and my prayers are going out to everyone today and everyday, for the families of our soldiers, living and deceased while fighting for our country!

God Bless America,
God bless our troops!
May they all come home soon!

Are you an American? If so, you are not honoring the heros that gave their life for us.. by being depressed.
It is a day to celebrate our freedom and give thanks.
I mean we are so fortunate to have our freedoms. Being on here to express ourselves is one of them!
Smile, honor the dead and enjoy your freedom! :)
