How can I copyright some digital photos?

I want an artist to oil paint them but want to retain my rights to my original works. Please be specific.

When you first publish (shown offline or online), your works into the world it is automatically copyrighted to you as the artist/creator. You own all rights to your work.....unless you sell all rights of course.

You HAVE copyright. Just by making it it is yours.
