you can never have too much publicity on these matters surely ?

Only yesterday a little 4 yr old was left unattended by her older sister, as she was having a tantrum in a local (large / busy) Car boot sale.
IMMEDIATELY other people were concerned and began comparing the situation with 'missing Maddie' it was 40 mins before an adult came and took the little girl. Nobody wanted to approach her as this is such dodgy territiory BUT Im afraid I talked to her and encouraged her to sit and wait (where she could be seen) until a grown-up came.
YES there was friendly bantering from other stall holders as I seemed to be left holding the babe but at least I knew that was safer than leaving her unattended and vunerable.

Has anyone learnt anything from Maddie going missing....anyone made any changes to the way they care for theirs or others I wonder

Yes, there has been far too much hype about this case. I simply cannot understand why it has become so high profile, and globally at that. The whole thing has been a web of intrigue though, especially with the initial false reporting, the late emergence of vital witness reports and the naming of a suspect with any declared evidence as to why he may be involved. Personally, I think the Portuguese police system needs a kick up the backside ... if that happened in Britain, I think things would have moved a lot quicker. It was clear that the Portuguese police are not geared up for these things, or so it seemed. As for the McCanns being negligent, we may be quick to judge a situation from press reports only, but in any event they are paying the ultimate price. My personal opinion? I think the McCanns should return to Britain, normalise their life and stop giving people reasons to criticise further. Of course, we all pray the little girl is alive and well but sadly, history dictates these situations rarely end without tragedy.

There can Never be to much publicity at a time like this.
The mccanns must be wracked with guilt. I cant ever imagine what they are going through and i wouldn't want to either. what they done leaving the children alone was extremely wrong but whats done is done we cant turn back the clock all we can do is hope and pray that Maddie is safe and well and that whoever has got her to bring her home please.. She don't deserve this Maddie is only a baby herself.

There can never be too much publicity when a child goes missing. Look at it the other way, why is there so little publicity for other kids? Have opportunities to retrieve these children been missed due to lack of publicity.

I think the debate about the rights & wrongs of them leaving her should wait until Maddie is found... I'm thinking "horses" and "stable doors" kwim?

No parent is perfect & we all do things other parents disapprove of, we're human.

I think there is a lot of publicity alrite and i think that its unfair that every missing child and their families don't get the same treatment but in no way would i think that the publicity should stop, at the end of the day they are trying to find a child so anything that can help should of course be done.

Personal opinion is that you can never have too much publicity concerning any missing child however there is too much of the wrong sort of publicity. We all know practically everything about the parents but what have we learned about the little girl? It sems like everything is about the parents now.

There can never be too much publicity about a missing child. There will be enough time for finger pointing when Maddie is found. Pray for Maddie!

Bear in mind that her parents, Kate and Gerry, have asked for the media to keep it in the spotlight. I personally don't think there is too much publicity surrounding this. Put yourself in their shoes, if one of your children went missing, you'd want the world to be looking for them too. I prey each night for her safe return, and cannot begin to imagine what they must be going through. God bless them all

Unfortunately when a child goes missing abroad it is more frightening for everyone abroad as many pedophiles move abroad to escape from sex offenders list and from having their every move watched so there's a greater risk of something terrible happening the child.
