Yes it can be contagious. It is a fungal infection and I think you will have to get a prescription for it.

Hi! No need to worry =) I have one too at the moment, and I use to get them quite often as a child as I always had outdoor cats around me. Have you got furry pets? That's most probably where she caught it from.
It is a result of a fungus infection, and it is quite contagious between animals, and easy to catch from animal to human, but not so from human to human, pretty much safe, I'd say.
I'm using an anti-fungal cream called Lamisil cream and solution, twice a day and its going away pretty quick, but then again I caught it late. The pharmacist gave that t me (over the counter), bu you can also use other anit-fungal creams like Cruex cream, Desenex cream, Lotrimin cream, lotion orsolution), Monistat-Derm cream or Nizoral cream, they are all effective.
Hope I helped, get it treated, and don't worry - it's nothing really! xx

You'll need an OTC anti-fungal ointment that contains clotrimazole like Lotrimin, Monistat, Lamisil. You'll also need to disinfect all items that your childs skin or hair has come in contact with, like pillows and hairbrushes.
It is highle contagious and is mostly spread through skin to skin contact.

It is extrememly contageous. Just touching it can make it spread. I suggest an anti-fungal cream until you can get her to the doctor. And keep the area dry. Moisture will aggrivate the irritation and make it worse. Good luck! :)
