I have never seen a NASCAR driver do that. They get a bottle of champagne and spray that and a bottle of Coke or Pepsi all over their crew and they spray it at the driver and then they drink a few sips of their champagne and get congradulations from owners and teammates and from their wife's with kisses from them, and they they get interviewed by the press and talk about the race and then doing the Victory Lane show. All that said, when Dale Earnhardt Sr. was still around Jeff Gordon got the nickname "The Kid' from Sr. and after he won his first championship in 1995 he toasted a glass of milk to Sr. at the Winston Cup Championship Banquet and then gave his speech and Dale Sr. stood up and laughed about the moment and smiled at Jeff. That was a great moment in time and I think that is a moment that Jeff will cherish for a long time and proves how close Sr. and Jeff really were, instead of having that rival people talk about. That was to show that "The Kid" had won his first championship and was toasting a glass of milk since that's what kids drink to the guy that gave him that name. Go #24!!!!

Only at one track do they drink milk in Victory Lane and that is at the Indiapolis Motorspeedway. The reason being is that when they first started racing there; the County the raceway is in used to be dry, so they drank milk instead of champgne.
The tradition has stuck ever since. NASCAR once a year visits the great Brickyard and it is the only race where they raise a glass of milk to celebrate their victory. The rest of the season it is whatever drink is sponsoring them.

It actually started by a blue law in Indianapolis that alcohol could not be sold on Sundays. It simply toasts the city for the weeks leading up to the event. ( A driver's thankyou for better words)
Plus, the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard will also have a celbratory toast with milk in Victory Lane.

Actually the tradition began in 1936 when Louis Meyer won the Indy 500, and fulfilled a promise to his mother.
Now the American Dairy Association is a sponsor and supplies Grade A Whole Milk in a Glass Quart Bottle just like Louis drank in 1936.
Please see link below, and than search for "MILK".
Hope this is helpful to you (and others).

It was first done in the 30's by an Indy winner. Milk sponsors picked up on it and here we are. Look to this link for more details.
Hope this helps.

They don't, the Indy 500 winner drinks the milk. NASCAR drivers drink their coke or pepsi, or gatorade or powerade, whoever might be their sponsor.

They don't.
Power Ade or Coke if that driver has a sponsorship.
If seen Dale Jr. belt down a Bud after a win.
I've also seen a lot of champagne in the winners circle, although I can't say for sure if it's real champagne or sparkling water made to look like the real deal.
