I agree with the other answerer about using a sitz bath. I recommend you dissolve 1c. of epsom salts and add this to the water, it will help pull toxins from the area. place an ice pack on the area for ten minutes at a time, several times a day. This will help numb the pain.

Advil soft gel capsules work very quickly on pain, take them four times daily.

I know someone in our family that had that. They ended up having surgery when it was NOT inflamed in orer to remove it altogether. You see, it gets bigger each time it gets inflamed. the kind of surgery is called a fistulectomy.

As for now, warm baths help temporarily but otherwise just tylenol alternating with ibuprofen every 4 hours. There isn't a whole lot you can do. It hurts like hell i'm sure. When it inflames time after time she used to put vaseline on it and a heating pad with a towel because the moist heat would help it burst on its own so she wouldn't have to go in every time to have it lanced. Ouch.

You can get him a sitz bath- that is more convenient and can be done more frequently since you don't have to get fully undressed and take a bath altogether.
It's a plastic toilet thing you buy at a pharmacy that you then put on the toilet under the seat lid to put warm water on that area for cleansing and for comfort.
Good luck and God bless.
