Not if they are insisting. God knows your heart. If you really don't want it give to the needy or put it back in the offering plate.
Sometime the tables get turned on us. Never refuse a blessing from anybody because sometimes the Lord is trying or testing them. I know it sounds different from a church but if that is what the leaders insist then by all means take the money. Like I said before you can always give it away if you don't want it and pass the blessing on to someone else.
I know of an evangelist, who a few years ago was holding a revival. One night while he was collecting offering at the meeting. A man came up barefooted, holding a new pair of boots. That was the only thing of value the poor man had. Through wisdom, knowing the man needing the boots on his bare feet, the preacher accepted the gift, even though he didn't want them or could he use them. (wrong size I think). They both went their on ways after the service.
Months later, at another revival, that same man came in. This time he brought the preacher two new tour busses for him and the crew that traveled with him.
He later asked the man how were you able to give new tour busses when months ago you didn't have any shoes. The man told him the Lord laid it upon his heart to give to the ministry. And the only thing he had at the time were his boots. And a few months later he had won an extremely large amount of money. (I have heard rumor that it was millions)
The Lord saw that mans obedience and blessed him. God knew he could handle that kind of money and not allow that to get him away from God.
If the preacher would have never accepted the gift the man could not of been blessed for giving.
I don't know what kind of money your church has. A lot of churches have thousands in the treasurey. Some barely get by week to week. I would accept the money, you may need it and God is helping you there. Or maybe God would like to see how you would handle it. Just know that you can never out give God. It wouldn't be wrong to give it to the needy, if you don't need it or want it.
But yes if you do keep it you are right about paying tithe with it.

Maybe take the money and go buy something for the church, or somehow donate the money back to the church. That's probably what I would do if they insisted that I be paid, but I didn't feel right about it. That way they are satisfied, but you are still working for free essentially, if you donate it all back.

Luke 10:7 - And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
No. Not at all. And if you tithe with the money your would be double Blessed. Amen

Why not? I'm an atheist and I sometimes help out at a church with charity work. However, if I were to do a job for them and they wanted to pay me, I would accept. If I didn't want to be paid, I just wouldn't take the money.
It all depends on what they are doing and what I'm willing to do.

If you insist on them not paying you for your time because of your commitment to God, what can they do to you? But if you think it's necessary to take the money now just to pacify them and return it later through other ways, then so be it. At the end of the day, do not sway from your decision first made. God bless.

No it will not be wrong, just as long you are not begging for it & they agreed to pay you. That is what paying Tithes is for, To support the church.

It wouldn't be wrong to take the money, but if you want to do the work for no money, let the church know, as they are probably thinking we they must pay you or you won't help them in future.

I don't think so. Like you said you can always give it back to them. Personally I think it's admirable that they want to pay you for your work.
