well, being an introvert I process things internally first before going out to outside council so if a very important decision comes along, I will usually think about it myself a bit then go to the lord and listen for his wisdom and then I'll bounce it off of friends too to get their input. God has been gracious to put into my path some friends that are quite wise and help me out a lot so many times God, being a God of relationships, will lead me to seek the council of my dearest friends.

Some people consult others and some people follow their heart. Notice however what God’s word the Bible says, for instance, about our hearts: Proverbs 28:26 says “He that is trusting in his own heart is stupid.” Why would God tell us that? No doubt because of what he tells us at Jeremiah 17:9, 10: “The heart is more treacherous than anything else and is desperate!” So we have a potential traitor in our bosom. No wonder we should not trust an untrained heart.
Well what about consulting others? Ecclesiastes 7:12 says that “Wisdom is for a protection the same as money is for a protection, but the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom itself preserves alive its owners.”
Where can that kind of wisdom be found? There are all manner of “experts”: advice columnists, psychologists, psychiatrists, even hairdressers and taxi drivers - ready to shell out advice on almost any subject. Does their “wisdom” lead to solutions or disappointment? Oftentimes, the latter. Sometimes even disaster. Where then can we find true wisdom?
Jesus Christ once said: “Wisdom is proved righteous by its works.” Matthew 11:19. Interestingly, he always deferred to his father when he had to make important decisions. If the greatest man that ever lived did that, should we not do the same? Why, when he was confronted with two challenges that required him to make a serious on-the-spot decision, Jesus twice stated “it is written” and then quoted his heavenly father’s scriptures. Luke 4:4-8.
There is practical counsel found in God’s Holy Scriptures. It is a reliable source of trustworthy values. Consulting that source, along with heartfelt prayer, will never lead us in the wrong direction.

Depends on the level of decision. What to have for breakfast? Low priority. What kind of car to buy? medium to high. Get advice from experts. What course to take your life or which religion to follow? High priority. consult, pray, ultimately, must be your own decision.

I do believe that we have the best answers within our self
this may sound silly but it works
I imagine myself sitting in a chair facing myself in another chair and talking to myself
I ask myself for advice , and have a conversation about it
I usually give myself some great advice ... sometimes I surprise myself with the answer
yeah I am a little nuts lol
but it works well I promise
:o)

You only solicit opinions from people in order to draw parameters for a reasonable conclusion, the decision is with you alone.

If it's about you then you should do it on your own. It doesn't mean that you can't get advice from people you trust though.
If you make this decision on your own you have no one to blame but yourself if you mess up. If you are right then prove to yourself that your decision making is indeed good.

all of the above...but first pray as it is the most important part, then seek for counsel and then decide.
