I pray differently at different times. Sometimes I use a more formal prayer but often I start with"Father" and just speak to Him as I would my dad. Sometimes I have a running prayer as if I were holding a long conversation with a friend. I ask, I thank, and I express my love. There are times when my only prayer is my tears or hurting heart. A wordless prayer that I know He understands.I talk to Him about ALL things and I feel His answer in my life. His voice to me is more of a feeling than a human tone. It is hard to describe.

You just talk to him as you would to a friend. You praise him and thank him for his blessings, and you ask him to help and heal people, yourself and others who may need it. You pray as long as you need to to say what you want to say. How often? The Bible says to pray without ceasing. I think that means your life should be a prayer. But vocal prayers can be said several times a day, especially at mealtime. It does not always have to be out loud. God can hear your thoughts. So if you are eating in public, a few moments of silent prayer in your heart are fine. One does not need to make a big spectacle of themselves and annoy the local atheists and agnostics.
You can talk to God about anything, just as you would your best friend, because that is actually what He/She is. How do you know he listens? You know because you have faith in him. You believe He/She cares about you and wants to hear from you. You are his child. A parent cares for their child. They listen.

Prayer is conversation with God.
I pray throughout the day, it is a lifestyle for me to talk with God as I go about my daily life. I also set aside time to speak with Him. He is a faithful friend who is there at all times.
I tell Him about everything. My concerns, my joys, my gratitude, I pray for others, pray for the leaders of my country.
Pray that His Kingdom will come to earth. I give Him my requests, I pray for my family and friends.
I know God listens, because I have a witness in my spirit, that I am in tune with His Spirit. God answers my prayers, not always at the time I want them answered, or the way I want them answered, but I trust Him because His ways are higher than my ways, and His thoughts higher than my thoughts.
God Bless you
Hope this helps.

As a 60 year old retired person, I chat with Father God all day long as I'm gardening. Jesus is my gardening Buddy. Of course at my age I can seem as though I'm talking to myself and no one pays me any attention.
I keep a prayer journal. I write down everything I'm feeling and offer it all to the glory of God. I pray some days, all day. Other times I slack off, but only because life gets in the way of living. When I'm in the Spirit I'm at peace. It is glorious to feel the peace and grace of the Holy Spirit. I know God listens to my prayers because he answers my prayers. Jesus in my Mediator to Father God; and He's told me to pray in His name and I will not be refused.
First you must surrender your life to Christ Jesus. It's a hard row to hoe.....it's not all fun and games....the Lord chastens those He loves; like any loving Father would. But once He gets you where He wants you; then watch Him work!!!! Oh, and He does such a mighty work!!

God should be considered like one of your closest friends, one you can sit next to for an hour not saying a word and walk away from feeling like you've just shared your every thought with. I guess if you dont know what to say just think about Him or your relationship with him and eventually you'll learn how to talk more openly. Like with a new aquaintance. As for the last question, how do you know your best friend really listens to you? Do you always listen to him? Do you listen to God?

There is a Scripture which states, "Do not think as to what you are going to say for the spirit will guide you"........
If you speak with your whole spirit to God... You don't have to worry about what to say.... Your heart will be open and all things considered will be known to Him.....
You can pray anyway you want....... But you don't want to say the same thing over and over again........
How would you like to have someone you love come to you and say exactly what they've said 10 minutes ago because some poet wrote it.....? Then say it again tomorrow, three times the same?............
Next time you see them, you wont want to hear it.... Better they say nothing than say that same old stuff you already know.....
But, when it comes from the heart, it is true...... that's what you say... .. Nothing rehearsed......
Your sister,
Ginger

God is all knowing and He hears every word you say and think. I give thanks to God every day, praise His name, and I pray for His healing of my two pets with cancer. I was told by the vet that my dog would be dead by last Christmas but he is still here and still a joy in my life. I told God I was looking for a modern day miracle and His response is obvious.....
It doesn't matter how LONG you pray. Just say what's in your heart. He already knows all the rest....

my prayer is never the same thing twice...and He does listen to my prayers, and He answers them...i haven't always liked the answer, but that's life...the first word out of my heart is 'father'...the rest pretty much flows in a 'stream of consciousness' type of thing...as to the content of my prayers? that's between God and myself, no disrespect intended-but some things are private...i don't recite a prayer word-for-word, but i use the prayer Christ taught as a template and go with what is on my heart...

"Dear Papa God" is how I start. Then it just depends on what is happening at the time. Whether I am just checking in, thanking, asking, praising etc...
Have no set time nor place to pray.
I know God listens through past experience. And because I am in relationship with God.
