They are road side signals across the tracks written in yellow and number on it and controlling stations gives a chart to Driver and guard of train/These charts carry minute to minue details of every Kilometer and Speed allowed on that km.

Seems willy nilly doesn't it. With the huge voloume of passenger traffic India must have sign posts where the seperated tracks are.
