Because they are oblivious to the fact that they could be also that way, if they would just give themselves the chance. So instead of believing for a second that it could be true, they'd rather cut you down for being different / oddball from them.... instead of being secure & embracing the possibility.
Everyone has the potential to be a romantic with the right person. To be a romantic doesn't make you stupid, frankly.... it makes you more appealing. Because you are able to show your best qualities & vulnurabilities without fear of what others think. It shows your heart & personal character are super strong.

Maybe when they say 'stupid' what they really mean is 'naive' or 'inexperienced'.
When you live a little, you tend to get a bit jaded, not so optimistic. Romance seems a little too idealistic for a lot of people who have experiences that have grounded them in reality.
Try not to take it so hard, theres nothing wrong with being thoughtful, sensitive or romantic.

they possibly mean that you are too idealistic in terms of what you want in regards to romance that it is unrealistic. However whatever the case is i reckon never let anyone tell you are stupid, its not nice and it hurts.

please stop listening the people.It depends what defination do you have in your mind about romance,but i think it's just few people who call you stupid not evry body around you ,why you bother for those who don't care baout your feelings, the important thing is not to criticise yourself.
