The USA wants to rule the world. Notice we went against the UN and invaded Iraq. They usually give us anything we ask for because we pay so much money into it. Nations such as North Korea want nukes to protect themselves from us, knowing we will not bomb a country that can defend itself.

PS: The USA is telling the UN that we don't want anyone ELSE to have nuclear capabilities. So, it is the USA not the UN making that decision. They are a puppet for the USA.

Now you might care to quote the figures for the Eastern Block Countries.

The US Weapons were used to Balance the books against the Russians & their Allies.

The Russians & Americans knew that with a balance in place nobody would be in a rush to Nuke the other guy first because of the retaliation that would follow

The U.N. dosent want crackpot fundamentalist regimes building and using such devices.

Why, you ask? Because the United States is the enforcement arm of the UN. So, what is the UN--a VOLUNTARY international organization that holds no legal authority--going to do? "Hey, um, USA - could you tell yourself not to build nuclear weapons? Thanks. And make sure you give yourself a thorough beating if you disobey your own orders."

The UN has no choice but to tolerate it. All the world can do is hope that the US agrees to enter into / uphold treaties regarding nuclear proliferation.

Because if it wasn't for the US, all of Asia would speak Chinese, all of Europe would speak Russian, and Kuwait would be under Iraqi rule.
Furthermore, name the countries that through out history have used nuclear weapons. I can count them on one hand. 1) USA... 2) oh yea, there is no 2.... the fact that we have been the only country to use it should say something. Especially since we've yet to use it again.

The US had atomic weapons before there was a UN. If you were UN Secretary, how would you get the US to dump it's weapons? Answer, you could not. The US is a soverign nation and is not run by the UN.

What does the U.N. have to do with this? Ever since when does the U.N. do s**t.
It's not only the U.S. by the way so I find that question very biased.
