Because in Genesis adam and eve didnt have to work the land for food. that was one of the curses that God applied after they sinned. Once they had to work they needed the protein provided by meat to work. Don't get caught up in this Genesis diet, its not healthy. Look into it if your considering it.

continue your research if you want to use the bible as your main point, unless you are jewish, because later on in the new testament, ACTS 11:7, it says:" I also heard a voice telling me, 'Get up, Peter! Kill these animals, and eat them"
it was when peter was thinking the gentiles were "unclean" and God told him nothing that he made is unclean by making the previously "unclean' animals in the old testament "clean".
oh and the posters are right. some of the animals were already allowed as early as the genesis part.

When man spread to all the surface of the earth, God gave permission to eat meat.
(Genesis 6:21) And as for you, take for yourself every sort of food that is eaten; and you must gather it to yourself, and it must serve as food for you and for them.”
This was a directive to Noah. It did not limit the food to fruit.

Genesis also tells us to eat meat, you just need to read a little farther.
Gen 9:3 "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. 4 "But you shall not eat flesh with its life, [that is,] its blood.

Because there are so many contradictions in the Bible, who knows what to believe and what not to believe. Wouldn't it be great if God would give us his word again now that mankind has a better understanding of what is going on.

Go further into the book of Genesis. God tells Noah that EVERYTHING is for food - plant and animal.

Evolution. We are hunter gatherers who are descended from hunter gathers for millions of years, going back to the time the hominid branched off from the primate. I honestly don't care what genesis has to say. Sorry.

men has always changed and made things easy on them, bible tells about reincarnation but it has been set aside and only Resurrection is told, people are very fast to quote from bible and write those lines to justify what they believe but they themselves ends up in changing the whole direction of gods words.
some say Jesus (pbwh) ate meat then they should do that to, well the question is who are you that you are comparing yourself to Jesus (pbwh). we are not even i billionth of Jesus (pbwh) then why should we do that.
before Jesus left , he gave the 10 commandments and one of that said " thou shall not kill",
why the hell we kill anything?
i personally believe that Jesus (pbwh) has said many good things but we humans , have chose wrong direction but keep his name on our lips just to fill our lust to eat meat.........may god bless you.
