Um, because if there wasn't everything on the planet would go drifting off into space, including us.... might be cool if we had a little less gravity though, women wouldn't be so concerned about thier weight, and we could all go jumping around like the bionic man, that would be cool, to jump a hundred yards instead of a couple feet, save alot of gas that way if we could get where we wanted to go with just a couple leaps.... :) This seems more like a physics question, than a metaphysics question though...

It's only a theory.
It isn't real.
I'm currently working it into the "Creative Design" theory that we were stuck here by the designer like little pieces of lego (tm), and we would slide or fall off the surface if unstuck.




It's still in progress.

I've often wondered that myself.... but if you think of it, even birds require gravity to stay aloft, so flying would be out the window, too.
