Malaysia progressed economically under the leadership of Dr. Mahathir Mohammed, a learned Muslim leader with powerful personality and clearcut vision for the economic development. He could very well understand the strenght of non-Bumiputeras with Chinese and Indian origin. As a Muslim leader, he also understood the religion and other side of the coin. He is the only Muslim leader of the world, who discouraged the orthodox and outdated traditions followed by Muslims without using their common sense. One should read his book to understand what he said about the Muslim traditions and why he he advocated removal of burqa and other traditions and how he advocated economic advancement. He had the guts of supressing fanatism coming in the way of progress. However, the cowards are slowly and steadily moving up the carpet after retirement of this leader from active politics. It is a sad story. These elements are responsible for the slowing of growth of Malaysia. And, domestic abuse is the easilest way followed by illiterates all over the world. Malaysia is no exception.
