If they pay fines, become fluent in English, and learn our history. Their kids will also have to pay taxes like are kids in the future.

Why do you call them "refugees". They are fence jumping law breakers. If they crossed the border illegally, they started out in this country by breaking the law. If they were here on a visa and stayed after it ran out, they broke the law.

If they had no concern for the law then, what makes you think they will respect our laws when they become legal citizens?

I am amazed at how some people believe that if they think something is true, it will be. I've heard that the new law only asks for an affidavit (a signed statement from the "applicant") that they are enrolled in an english class, and they will only have to pay a maximum of about $5,000 in back taxes...for the last three years. What about the illegals who've been here
for longer than that? Congress is trying their best to give away our country 12-20 million people at a time!

Well you're not talking about refugees. You're talking about illegal foreignors. There is a huge difference you know. Americans don't have to continue to put up with this cr*p of amnesty every 20 years. And if Americans choose to stand together on this issue - what's it to you? And if you and the other illegals, and the pro-illegals don't like it - move and go elsewhere.

How many times are you going to ask this question anyway? Re-wording it is all you're doing.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the illegal immigrants in this country do not fall under the definition of "refugees". The definition of them are (gasp) "illegal immigrants". There is a huge difference between the two. Look up the definition, and you will see.

But yes, I will be upset if illegal immigrants receive amnesty. That is rewarding criminal behavior, and I don't think it right. Not to mention that it will open the flood gates of our legal system. I think there will be plenty of appeals of convicted felons, crying that they shouldn't be punished for their crimes because they committed them to support their families and due to poverty. Just wait and see. The law doesn't see "criminal" in the definition of which laws have been broken. A "criminal" is a person that has broken one or more laws. ILLEGAL immigrants fall right into that definition.

Refugees have as much right to a decent life as the rest of us. HOWEVER, I've heard that even though refugees are not any more likely to commit crimes than are Americans...refugee children are more likely to commit crimes. The reasons for this are obvious.

Refugees play an important role in the American economy by performing jobs that no one else wants and at minimum wage. To the refugees, the money they are making can feed their entire generation back where they came from...which is great. BUT, again their children are clogging up the school system by lowering standardized test scores. I think the tests don't take into account all of the kids who speak English as a second language. This creates a domino effect where each year the schools get less and less money, which leads to kids getting worse scores, which leads to the schools getting less money.
Most of these kids tend to grow up in a life of poverty which leads to crime. These kids then influence other kids in the schools which leads to even more problems.
What about the refugees who take advantage of the welfare system such as food stamps and healthcare. Does this stress the economy? Could the money that the government uses to pay for these illegal aliens go to other causes such as reducing poverty for citizens?
Amnesty doesn't solve these problems. It only encourages more and more refugees to take advantage of the naive Americans who feel they are doing the right thing by granting it.

They are ILLEGAL immigrants, not refugees. Refugees are entirely different. I don't think we should reward them for breaking the law and if we give the ones who are here now amnesty more illegals will be flooding in here after them because they'll want amnesty too.

they will be upset because the "refugees" will get something and they will not. i think for the average American, the American dream is dead or that it is no longer enough.

No where else in the world can you own 2 TV's, a car, a cell phone, and computer and still be considered poor.

Or perhaps they are envious that someone else is living the dream that America promises.

Unless you are Native American, no one is from the U.S. This country was founded and prospered on people immigrating here for a better way of life.

Me personally i feel good that American dream is alive and well, and being lived by someone.

now they are being called refugees, these are trespassing criminals who bring down the US in too many ways that need to be deported or jailed, that would be like giving the whole prison system amnesty, isn't going to happen!!!!!!
