Every person is to blame. How often do you choose to buy your country's products over others. Like if you had a choice between an Indian pair of jeans and an imported one, which one would you buy, if both cost the same. Finally, with so may people having low regard for your own stuff, most of the money Indians make, is siphoned abroad because of the low regard for their own things. Also most people who can make a difference, like the IIT grads and the IIM grads, leave to work in US or UK to help them develop their technology, while India remains behind. Moreover, a lot of these IIT graduates have used tax payers money to get cheap education (compare to world standards) and then they join Banks and Finance companies, just because it will make some money for them (and a foreign MNC) and their engineering knowledge, which would have helped India make planes, ships, dams, etc. goes totally waste. These are some of the reasons. But the sad part is that no one wants to fight these, instead they want to run from it by getting good jobs abroad and never looking back. Hope you will not do that.
You will see people who have some money to spare, they will go ahead and buy expensive foreign cars, clothes, watches, crystalware, etc.. The Indian companies earn foreign exchange with so much difficulty and there go a few 10,000 dollars with each foreign car bought. Just to give you some idea, when a cotton shirt is sourced from Indian, the Indian companies are paid only a few (3 to 5 dollars) dollars for it, and they are sold at 40 to 50 dollars abroad. And then some egoistic people spend the hard earned dollars on personal luxuries not thinking about the country.

First and foremost, their countries are not so advanced as you might think. I may be mistaken, but didn't Singapore cane someone recently? But that is not the real issue, the development of these other countries really came about as America began farming out the technologies to 3rd world countries, so we built the plants, trained the people and saw a more affordable product. Another major factor is industrial espionage, I live in SF, CA. but the Japanese Foreign Counsel is in the silicon valley (seem strange to you). America obeys the laws others ignore.

Most of the poverty alleviation schemes and other schemes are not percolating to the poor. Education systems has been commercialised. In consequence, the poor cannot have access to higher education. A country is called developed where the standard of living is more. The schemes and plans are implemented perfectly for the upliftment of poor. The country is self reliant. The people are hard working. India is not developed as the most of the people are languishing in poverty. Government is formulating various plans and programmes with good intention but they are not implemented due to official apathy and practices of corruption. In the some aspects like Science, Business and Education, India is developed. The gap between the poor and rich are widening. The poverty eradication program is not getting priority. In real term, India is not developed.

You're misinformed. These nations are advanced (China is developing), but not to USA level. To realize this you should visit these countries deeply, consuming time. USA imports small daily needed articles, but there is deep economics in it. It'll require time & energy to discuss the economic policies - not suitable in this forum.
