I'm doing a persuasive speech on it and I need to sample several forms of medium of it. I can't find any on simple searches. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Not sure about any songs about persecution, but if you check out the Voice of the Martyrs website, you might find some resources that could help you. If there's some way you could work spiritual apathy into your speech as well--what comes to mind is Christians in "affluent" countries not doing anything to stop persecution of believers in Third World countries--you might check out the songs "Watching You Die" by Jonah 33 and "Hell To Pay" by Guardian. Lyrics are at the links below. The Guardian album that "Hell To Pay" is on is probably out of print, but you can download the song for 99 cents at the link below.

Let me know how your speech goes.

Punter, attempts to explain away the Bible's account of the crucifixion don't hold up under honest scrutiny. Check out the link below about Christ's crucifixion.

i can't think of any right now, i think if you are gonna find any songs like that you could look into these styles which i think would be most likely to have songs of that nature

reggae- bob marleys "redemption song" may be a form of religious persecution to a certain degree.

folk music/traditional- likely something of that nature from the likes of bob dylan, irish music in particular irish rebel music, try the dubliners, luke kelly, christy moore, wolfe tones, irish brigade...........

you may also find songs from the black slaves like "wade in the water"(not sure if that is the title.....) although most of those songs were secret codes to guide the runaway captives they do have a strong influence in the idea that god will deliver them from slavery into freedom.
hope this helps a little, try ask this on the music section of q and a if you haven't already......good luck and god bless.

"something inside so strong" by gary og can be considered a religious song against persecution....just heard it again. another side thought- the book of psalms and the song of songs can be a great source, i ahve heard some artists take ideas or turn some of the passages into songs......

On Bob Dylan's Album " Slow Train Coming" from 1979, There is a song called " I believe in you". If you have never heard, it check out the Lyrics. It is the only song like that which I can think of.

How about "I Pledge Allegience to the Lamb" by Ray Boltz?

Here's the way it starts:

"Dad, has it always been this way?"
" Well, even from the beginning men hated
Jesus even though He did nothing but love
them and teach them and heal them. They
nailed Him to a cross. They thought they
had killed Him, but they only set Him free
to live in the hearts of people like you
and me who believe in Him. Then came the
apostles and most of them were killed for
telling other people about Jesus. So they
tortured them and killed them and even
left their bodies to rot as an example
to other people, but the church kept
right on growing, watered by the blood
of these precious saints."

"But Dad, did they want to die?"
" No. They didn't want to die. I mean,
many of them had children just like you
they had to leave behind. But they were
forced to make a choice. They could
choose to live this one life here on
earth and reject Jesus and be damned
or they could choose to believe in
the words of Jesus and live forever."
" I think I understand."
" Here, maybe this will help you understand."

I have heard how Christians long ago
Were brought before a tyrant's throne
And they were told that he would spare their lives
If they would renounce the name of Christ
But one by one they chose to die
The Son of God they would not deny
Like a great angelic choir sings
I can almost hear their voices ring

I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
With all my strength
With all I am
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb

They only want positive songs about religion. Years ago there was a song by XTC called "Dear God" that mentioned, "Fighting in the street, because they can't make opinions meet about God" but only one NYC radio station would play it. The rest refused.
