My God does not punish. Living a life you know is wrong and makes you feel horrible and keeps you up at night is your punishment. Living a good life is its own reward.

God does not do much in the punishment dept these days.
We live in the Age of Grace. However, there are laws set from the beginning which will enforce our actions, be they good or bad. Hence, when sin is committed, the punishment comes.
Thank God for 1 John 1;9.

EDIT: The Age of Grace will end with the Tribulation. I believe in a Pre Trib Rapture for the Church in which each individual will give an accounting at the Bema(the Judgement Seat of Christ).
Those who refuse to accept the gift of God's salvation will
answer at the Great White Throne Judgement at the end of the mellinial reign of Christ.
Rewards or the lack of them will be given at the Bema.
Judgements await those who answer at the Great White Throne Judgement.
I hope this helps.

Ever since the fall of man, there has been sin in the world. Everything that happens in every single day on this entire planet happens because of sin. Sometimes we really question if God is there. If God is there, why is there poverty? If God is there, why is there war? If God is there, why is there hatred? It all happened because Eve had to eat the forbidden fruit. God gave her an oppurtunity to choose what she wanted to do. We have free will. So I guess you could say that the punishment we recieve for our sins is just the crap that happens everyday like war, and premarital sex, and people who just make bad decisions.

Another thing is the second question. God rewards us not because of our good works, but because we trust and believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior. When we are Christians, we have the assurance that we will be together with God in heaven when we die. And that is a good enough reward for me!

Good luck!!

How? In regard to suffering experienced for sins committed some suffering comes by causality. For example a Christian couple that divorces without having the proper reason go through quite an ordeal.

In other cases, if there is no way for causality to kick in, God gives the person up to Satan to whatever degree that is God's will. Satan is only too happy to find ways of cause this person all kinds of suffering.

The fact is, that once a Christian sins seriously, that Christian cuts himself off from God until the problem has been fixed and paid for and repentance has taken place. Thus he becomes an immediate target for Satan.

Rewards: again How? It is obviously depending upon the individual. A childless couple could be given their request of having a child, etc.

The fact that this does happen to Christians is treated here:

God is not standing in heaven with a bolt of lightning in hand waiting to strike us all down when we make a mistake.

We simply reap what we sow and we are in a period of grace at the moment.......when we reach the end we will be rewarded according to our work. Rather that work was good
or bad will determine the reward.

If you don't mind I can't speak any better than one of the most brilliant minds of the twentieth century;
If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.
Albert Einstein
I do not believe in the God of theology who rewards good and punishes evil.

If you are wanting a punishment in the immediate sense, no, you don't get punished. Its more of a if you do not ask for atonement, then you will go to hell. However, asking for atonement is a very easy thing, you just have to ask. You need to truly be sorry for what you did though, and try to make things right also.

Sometimes people get punished for their sins here on earth, but there is a judgment day coming when all human beings will stand before God in judgment for their sins and also to reward those who have served him.

As far as being rewarded for our good works on earth. "Give and it shall be given unto you...." When we give, whatever it may be, much more is given back to us. "we reap what we sow..." If we give money, God gives us more back... If we give food, God gives us much more than we gave....
