As I recall, after checking my sundial, the animals just marched themselves in two by two. Then they hoisted the anchor, and sailed away. ] ;}

It too longer to build the Ark. Probably 80-100 years.
Genesis 5:32 After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth.
Genesis 7:6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth.
NOAH DIDN'T HAVE TO ROUND UP THE ANIMALS, THEY CAME TO HIM.
Genesis 7:7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.
8 Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground,
9 male and female, CAME TO NOAH and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.

God said
"Attention, all the animals ( apart from Human )
drop whatever you are doing
line by 2, and 7 for clean animals
make sure your buddy is different sex.
start walking, running to Noah's ark ( angle will guides you the way )
so it's automatic.
additional info
On that time, Dino were God's favourite animal. Dino knew god's plan. They tried to reach Noah's ark as fast as possible. However, as a rule,
they could not agree who should be on the ark unitl ark left them.

Building the ark-by far. God had to round up the animals or Noah would not have lived long enough, even with his sons to help for that many creatures.

I think the animals were on there way long before Noah was finished building the ark. Take the polar bears for an example. They had a long trek.

When you read the account carefully in chapter 7, it becomes obvious that Noah had little to do with making the animals come to the ark. It is obvious that this was accomplished by God's angels doing the gathering.
Thus when I read on a HP dedicated to evolution how the difficulty of Noah accomplishing this is pointed out with a lot of calculations, etc., I find it strange that we - Christians - have to be able to put ourselves in their minds to understand their stand while they do not do the same for us.
Of course, such are either atheist or agnostic that cannot fathom that God may take direct action on earth so as to assist his people and single individuals.
There is a related question in regard to how animals after the flood got distributed globally. This subject is discussed here:

The creation account is discussed here:

And in regard to a lot of very interesting stuff about archeology that is ignored by the world at large look here:

People often wonder how Noah could have fit all these animals on the Ark. Anyone ever think that maybe they were babies and eggs?
A thought that just occured to me. Hmmm.

The ignorant people who came up with this story didn't have sufficient knowledge to know that 2 of every species of living things on the planet weighs approximately 100 million tons. Noah would have needed an Arc a few miles long and many lifetimes to gather them and put them back.
