See the fact is he is neither, because he does not exist.
If he did then this would all mean that all life is is a big test.
and for what, so he put us on this earth just to test people and see who will follow him and who will not, its all just one sick game, man the stupidity just angers me writing about it.
One also has to define "evil" because the definition it appears means that not only humans are evil, but everything has the ability to be evil. many animals kill for fun and kill for meaningless things. Is it because its in there "nature" and they should not be judged for that....bullshit, things like that are also in humans nature but we are judged for that.

DISCLAIMER: It's funny that people want God to intervene in their lives when it is a situation that they can't control, yet want Him to leave them alone when all is well or when they want to do their own thing. That said, God can do anything except go against His nature. Yes, He can restrain evil...and sometimes He does. But He has also given us the knowledge & ability to do the same (obviously in a limited way compared to Him). Evil is allowed to exist for the purpose (among other things) to test us, strengthen us, draw us to God. We have been given a (limited) free will, and unfortunately, many of us choose evil (as well as it's eternal consequenses.

God loves evil. He thrives on evil. In the old testament he carried out much evil. But he was just teaching. Now that we know evil so well God just sets back an watches us perform and sends a disaster like Hurricane Katrina ever so often just for fun. BB

Because good and evil are equal, opposite forces.
Like positive and negative.
Hot and Cold.
Light and Shadow.
Original and Extra Crispy.
Neither one is stronger than the other.
Otherwise, why wouldn't God simply sweep Evil out of existence?

You can not find .answer to this within the domain of any religion .At metaphysical level, the situation can be reworded to imply the struggle between acceptable and non acceptable norms in a society at a given point of time. In such a situation, actions and reactions tend to balance each other, mostly through human behavior .God has no role to play ,as he is not required to arbitrate or judge since the format is self actuating.I think we should keep the GOD out of such mundane activities and use HIM for higher and universal roles.

Such a huge question, so little space to respond .....
In a nutshell: God is powerful, but it is not His job to stop or control evil. If He did, then we would learn few if any of the lessons life has to teach us. And that is the reason we're here; to learn about ourselves, our capabilities, strengths, weaknesses, faith, love, compassion, and so much more. So many of the lessons we learn have to do with evil; how we deal with it, respond to it, what it does to us as individuals and as a society, etc.

According to the ChristoJewishIslamists (at least), God is omnipotent.
That means God created evil and practices it regularly.
That's why major disasters are called 'Acts of God' by insurance companies.
I think it makes better sense that this God guy doesn't exist.

I read the best explanation I've ever heard on this today. I was reading some article and the author said that to be honest he also struggles with this question. He said that since we are all evil, as stated in the bible, if God were to destroy evil, he would have to destroy all of us. And, God loves us to much to do that.

The nature of man is evil (since the fall).
God does in fact restrain evil. If He did not this world would be truly Hell. (Which is what Hell is BTW...a place where God is not, and evil is unrestrained).

God is not omnipotent. He controls nothing. He simply teaches us through life. Evil is born of men, and it is this evil God wishes us to avoid. Satan is a fairy tale to scare morons into going to church.
