No use replying with "free speech" or "tollerance"..
There is clear and abundant evidence that so many religious teachings are at complete odds with the natural world around us, not to mention the twisted historical persepectives they adhere to.

The religious brainwashing of young minds and the gullible is a cruel thing to do, and causes divisiveness and confusion and war, and only by applying denial and ignorance can there be room for these beliefs, particularly christianity which is so often "humoured" in otherwise scientifically informed western cultures..
Why is this tollerated? It is clearly a farce..!!

Is any one else getting sick and tired of the denial, ignorance, flashoods, misquoting of science, fabricated "facts", and hidden agendas that so many of these institutions indulge in?

Isn't it time to promote learning and the aquisition of knowledge, instead of tollerating, or often even promoting the right to lie and to teach lies openly..??
Is this intollerable.??

The Constitution of the United States forbids such.

I'm going to challenge your assumption that there is 'no use' replying free speech. What exactly does free speech mean to you? Even if I agreed with every staement you make, I would still disagree with your first statement. You basically say that if I were to go out and say 'the sky is purple' I should be arrested. That any lie should be illegal. Wow, the prison population would sure explode!

Second, for someone who seems to be championing science you stated your views in possibly the most unscientific way possible. "clearly a farce"? Clearly to whom? The overwhelming majority of Americans who claim that at the least to believe in some sort of higher power? The millions who are active participants in these religions? Or just you and the minority that believe what you do? It is your voice that should arbitrate what is good, correct, and truthful in the world. And by your own definition of what is truthful, if someone disagrees with you they are brainwashers, who adhere to twisted perspectives. How convenient.

And what religions or teachings are you referring to, that are at odds with the natural world and cause divisiveness and war? All of them? This is true of every single religion? Do not steal, do not murder, do not commit adultry, honor your father and mother, treat others as you would have yourself treated. Are these the religious teachings cause war? The central teachings of Christianity?

Or would it be more accurate to say that people cause wars? That many wars and atrocities have been fought over land, or power, or ignorance, or personal vendettas. And that while horrible things have been done in the name of God, wonderful things have been done as well. Charity, and the giving of oneself, works of art, and the preservation of that knowledge your so fond of by the monks of the church. That many times religion has given people hope or comfort where nothing else could.

And "causes divisiveness"? Reread your question. It is stated in such a way that people of faith are in one group: the bad, lying , intollerant, ignorant, brainwashers and athiests are in another:the truthful, smart people who know what is best. Apparently not only the religious spread divisiveness.

What learning are you promoting in your new world? Not open learning which is full of questioning. Because the subject of religion would be taboo. You've made your judgement, no one could speak against it. No one could disagree or question.

Let me say that again. No one could disagree or question.

Does that sound like a society that promotes learning and an aquisition of knowledge?

Free speech is the answer. Because the whole point is to protect against someone arbitrarily deciding what is right and enforcing it. Allowing everyone to express themselves is how you promote learning.

However, if your goal is to get everyone to think like you do, your way is better. Just make sure you know what you're asking for. It's not a culture of learning, it's a culture of submission.

I agree and disagree with you. Agree that dangerous cults like the Charles Manson and David Koresh groups were sick and twisted, not to mention killed many. I have to disagree with the lumping of Christianity into this tangle. Science cannot explain everything, no matter how hard they try.

Wouldnt it be great if everything regarded as religion in general was strictly in the "teaching" realm and totally away from the "preaching" realm.
Imagine what people would actually learn.

*Cough Cough*

Personal preferences...

By the way, you are preaching and teaching your own opinions.

Finally, the reason that it is allowed, is because if you study history, you would recognize the beliefs that this country was founded upon...would be exactly that...Christianity. You can feel free to live somewhere else that there isn't religious freedom.

I hate complainers.

God allowed it since Day One in the garden of Eden.
God still allow it today.
People are given the free will to choose what they believe.
People are not robots.
It's by design, not by ignorance.

If you are tired of it why not go to the section on fixing cars? No one forces you to stay in the religion category if you are a non believer or atheist.

I agree that what you say is true, but the next step will be to burn the books. It has happened before.
