Depends where you live. If you live in an area where there are lots of fleas, and she goes outside, she'll get fleas. And, no, you don't keep her inside, you find ways to control fleas if they are a problem in your area (flea collars, preventative medications, products for your home, baths, etc.)
Don't get your dog all kinds of preventative stuff until you find out what is necessary where you live. Some places have fleas, others heartworm, others ticks, some have none, some have all three. Ask your vet. They will know what the situation is in your area.
By the way, fleas don't live in grass. They live on or near animals. Your dog can get fleas from any place where other animals have been, indoors or out.

No you don't keep her inside forever because that is very cruel. It will also NOT save your dog from fleas - fleas can enter houses as easily as your or I you know, and they do, looking for animals to feed from!
I didn't even have to read the details of your question - ALL dogs and cats, and rabbits can get fleas. Hairless ones, newborn ones, indoor ones - all vulnerable to fleas.
If you have a dog, you need to flea treat it regularly, with something from a VETS as pet shop treatments are basically a joke.
The amount of people who come to vets saying 'my dog won't stop scratching, she doesn't have fleas...' and then surprise surprise, the dog DOES have fleas.

If you are going to keep a dog you will need to give it proper medication against fleas, worms and heartworm. All this is easily done with a monthly dose of either a pill in the food or a liquid applied between the shoulder blades. As long as you keep up the treatment, your dog will not get fleas at all. It isn't cheap but we shouldn't keep pets if we can't look after them properly. You can buy these products online if you look.ALTARIEL

To upload directly to what "Original" mentioned, despite the fact that they're exclusive species, normally cat fleas gets on puppies, and puppy fleas gets on cats. There are even rabbit fleas which exist, but if my bunny had fleas, they were not rabbit fleas in any respect, they have been cat fleas! Sounds complicated, does not it?

Take her to the vet and have her put on flea prevention medication if you are worried about it.
Unless the area / environment is over run with fleas, generally a well fed healthy dog isn't getting fleas. We haven't had fleas in over 14 years.. Once we didn't have cats anymore we never ever got fleas again.. And we live down by the lake where it's flea heaven... or hell I guess :)

fleas are a part of life.. like eating and dieing
If your back yard doesn't have other dogs running in it you have a much better chance of not getting fleas
Remember Summer is worse than Winter
I have two houses.. one has two of my other dogs ... full of fleas and my little terrier can have many fleas on her. At my other house the dogs only come and visit every so often and she may only get a flee or two (only when they have visited)
When she is on her own (she is mainly in the house until I get home) she doesn't get fleas.
Flea prevention can assist and washing will help but you cant keep your dog wrapped in cotton wool forever

It isn't that direct. If they jump on her and you don't have any flea killer on her, yes, she will get them. If you use Advantage or some similar product, she won't have a problem. My babies do fine on them and I don't have any fleas. No don't keep your baby inside, get some kind of flea killer for her and she will do fine outside. Good luck!!! DOGS RULE!!!

Are there any groundhogs around where you live???
groundhogs are flea carriers, they leave their little friends behind,in the grass, you walk thru the grass, come inside and your dog gets them. No guarantee this Will happen. but in our neighborhood, every house in the block had problems w/ fleas, and our neighbor,an exterminator, felt it was from the groundhogs who live across the street in a vacant lot.
This is just one of the risks of having pets.
