I opened a shopping center door once for a woman. She turned around and gave me a dirty look,as I had apparently offended her.
So,my question is:Do you like it if a man opens the door for you? Or do you hate it?

I'm pretty neutral about it unless my hands are full. I used to get a little annoyed but then I started opening doors for people randomly, male or female. So now I don't assume that others are doing it out of sexism, just kindness.

What is not to like about good manners? You cannot please everyone all the time however, so just do what feels natural, and the next time a lady glares at you for being courteous, let the door go right before she's through it. LOL Some people need a knock in the head to snap out of their own universe, and appreciate that the world doesn't revolve around them. Imagine being offended by something like that!

It is very nice to have a door opened for me. If I am the first to a door, I will hold it open.
Perhaps she wasn't used to someone being nice to her and she couldn't remember how to say thank you.
. I think it is rude to let the door shut if someone is right behind me and there have been times when I will hold the door for several people. Usually it is a gentleman that will take the door and offer to let me pass.

I like it when a man opens the door for me as long as it is done in a natural and friendly manner.

It all depends on the woman. Personally, I like it when a man opens a door for me. You seem like quite the gentlemen.

Personally, I believe it's very polite for a man to open a door for me, it shows he has respect for women.

Some women though think of it as a way of flirting, or that you're trying to "get in their pants". I don't get how they see that though.

I don't mind, so long as it is not condescending. People say we shouldn't want the door opened for us because we want equal rights. I say that has nothing to do with being polite - I hold the door for men, you know.

Don't be rediculous. Anyone opening a door for me is a kind gesture. I hold doors open for people behind me.

Plainly good manners.

That woman you are describing is most likely a feminist and those type of women usually have a high tech career and are usually single or if they are not, they are usually head of household and like to be the boss all the time. They don't like any help from a man because they believe anything a man can do, they can do just as good, if not better.
No, I do not agree with this, as I am a feminine, dress wearing woman and I like to be treated like a woman and I am very impressed with the good manners of men who open doors for women. It shows that they had wonderful mothers who brought them up well, or fathers who taught them how to treat a woman, or both. Keep opening doors for women! Most normal women who still act like women, love this kind of treatment.

it is very polite, kind and you are just being a gentleman. that doesnt make you a bad person at all.
