i currently have a boss 2 ch 1200 watt amp it puts out 200rms a channell,and if i add another amp should i use a 4 gauge wire?

right now i have 8ga but like i said when i put another amp use the 4ga right?and is 8ga ok for a 1200w amp

If your Boss amp is rated at 200 watts per channel RMS, then it's a 400 watt amp (ignore the 1200 watt "max" rating). 8-gauge wire should be fine.

If you add another amp, then you can run 4-gauge wire from the battery to a distribution block, then run 8-gauge wire from the distribution block to each amp. Or, you can just run a second 8-gauge wire directly to the battery, so you have an 8-gauge wire running to each amp from the battery. This assumes that your second amp isn't higher power than the first amp.

4 Gauge wire should be good enough. And get a big amp fuse in the front by your battery.
