Brodie is confused. He probably likes Amy, but saying that she is "kinda-sorta' really means that he is unsure about the validity of the relationship. He probably knows that Amy still has feelings for her baby's father and is probably thinking about going back to him and Brodie, in the meantime is hanging around and waiting for the other shoe to fall. He knows that Amy is not 'really' 'his' girlfriend because there are too many ties to this other man. "Kinda-sorta' only means that she's supposed to be his girlfriend, but there are some complications. The reason he has suggested that she go back to the other guy is because Brodie already knows that he and Amy are going no where and with a baby involved - the mother and father are never really through.

well it depends on the situation really but a kinda sorta girlfriends means your dating them but your not
