Yes, love piercings, which is why I am a piercer, lol. I have 8, would have many more, but I'm a mom, so I keep it simple even though I'm probably one of the few in my profession with so few. I have 3 in each ear (16g, 14g, & 8g) and 12g's in my nipples.

I think that the impact that they have on today's youth in a lot of ways is great because it allows people a chance to express themselves by adding to their appearance in ways that makes them feel good about themselves. As a piercer, I refuse to pierce anyone under 18 even with parental consent unless it is a standard earring and I really wish that more piercers were like that as I know too many that will do a septum ring on a 16 year old as long as their parents sign the form.

There are so many reasons for having piercings, self expression, enhancement of looks (just because some of you may not think it looks good, what matters is what the person wearing it thinks looks good), sort of a right of passage, modern primitive, etc.

If you'd like any other information on piercings and orgins or piercing, etc, let me know. I'll be glad to help ya out!

Yes i love them, but in moderation, there are times when some people just have too many. I have 6 piercings, not including ears. I have my lower left side lip pierced, with a small stud in it, not a ring. I have my nipples pierced 3 times 2 vertical and one horizontal. I also have my belly button pierced, but have had to take it out due to pregnancy. I also have my VCH done (vaginal clitoral hood). That was a personal choice. I think that piercings and tatts do have an impact on the under 20 year olds. I believe that while they are becoming more accepted in society, they are still a way for youth to rebel, make a statement about their individuality, while still being within an accepted 'norm'. They are a way for kids to make statements, rebel against their parents, and prove themselves individual and adult, without alienating themselves from the general population. And the shock value for older, more conservative people is still priceless. Yet i wonder what will be left for the next few generations once these kids become adults, and parents themselves of a teenager looking for a way to rebel. The next bunch of rebels will have to come up with something pretty extreme.

I am a big piercing fan, I started my collection very young and keep adding more piercings along the way. I have 10 if you count all the ones in my ears. I don't think they have a big impact on todays youth because if you don't want the piercing anymore or can't get a job because of it then you can take it out. I think tattoos will have a much greater impact on todays youth because of the growing trend in visable tattoos(wrist and neck) and the fact that they are for life.

Love them. Have five right now and had two others. They do but only the people that care about what others think are impacted ... and they usually aren't the ones getting them. But ironically, the anti piercings and tattoos (Ha, many people don't like what I choose to do to my body since I have both) are the ones that are the loudest. Waisted efforts I am afraid.

**I didn't get my piercings to get attention. I got them because I wanted them and I thought about what would look good, not just any random piercing I happened to hear about. I can hide all of mine also. There is nothing unprofessional about them, it's the way you are viewing them making a harsh usually incorrect judgement based on what you can see. And FYI, most piercings don't leave nasty scars unless you have a huge out of control infection. At which point ... is all your fault. 90% of the people I know have no idea that I used to have my nose pierced, can't even tell just by looking at my nose, not even right where the ring was.

i have 3 body pericings done and i love them i have my eyebrow done, my touge, and my belly button, i would like to have more but with 3 kids im taking a big chance in getting them ripped out, besides i dont want to have way to many and regret them, and i think they do have a impact on todays youth its letting us express ourselfs and be different than our parents time back in the 60's and 70's when tattoos hit it

I love them.
I have my nose, tongue, belly, and snakebites (Lip on each side). I'm going to get a few more once I get the money.

I'm not sure that they have a great impact, but I don't get my piercings for anyone other than myself. I'm 18 now and I'm able to do what I want with my own body.

I love them..I have a few piercings ..I think it OK for youth it's better then a tattoo because they aren't permanent you can take them out any time you want. Piercings are very addictive buy the way..

I like them in moderation. I have a bellyring but I got it about 10 years ago and I didn't know piercings were big now like they were then. Anyway, surprisingly it didn't hurt at all and mine didn't get infected. All of my friends did and oh how gross can these infections be!

I'm 31 years old and if I had a daughter between 16 to 18 I'd probably support her getting one but not in her tongue or on her face b/c they leave nasty scars. Have you seen the size of the gages they use?

I love piercings. I have 14 pericings((lip-nose-eyebrow-ears))and I'm hopefully getting a medusa piercing or getting another lip piercing so I'll have snake bites. I veiw my piercings as my way of expressing my individuality.

I like them in moderation. I dont like people that have 20+ on their faces. I like lip rings, eyebrow rings, tongue rings, most of the usual ones.

I have my nose pierced and my tongue pierced but I no longer wear a ring in my tongue.

I think it gives young people a way to express them selves without hurting anyone else.
