Yes. They are diametrically opposite. The Atkins diet consists of mainly meat, and the vegan diet is no meat. Neither of these diets is healthy because it limits vital sources of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that are essential to health. The only diet I would adhere to is no diet -- just a healthy eating plan that includes all nutritious foods.

No, I wouldn't say that. Atkins emphasizes protein over carbohydrate intake, which does result in a meat-centric menu. The Vegan goal is obtaining a complete, balanced diet without consuming animal products.

I suppose the 'opposite' of the Vegan diet would be one that is strictly carnivorous - one that focuses on consuming *nothing but* animal products.

no because the atkins is all about restricting carbs and you could do that as a vegan- just eat tofu and legumes all the time.

yeah I just was thinking about that the other day.
Animal protien has very minimal carbs and lots of fat.

Vegetarian protien can only happen when you mix legumes with grains, or seeds/nuts with grains, or legumes with seeds/nuts.

All this stuff has carbs in it, so you would get a lot of carbs with your protien.
