Negative to all of them.
Marines probably have more people drinking then any other branch, and my friend that was in the marines got stabbed by a fellow marine and almost killed him.
Its true that every branch has low lifes but they are indeed a minority
And maybe in the early 1900's the majority of sailors may have been gay-highly unlikely though, but now it is rare to find any gays in the navy, I know that in the marines they have to give you anti-erection juice with your breakfast because some marines turn gay from not having a woman.

The answers to you questions are no,no,no. I spent a few years in the Navy and never met a single sailor that was gay ( I am sure there are some, just as there are gay Marines,Airman, and soldiers.) Not all sailors drink, and if you get caught fighting its your a ss!!! and most of the sailors I met in my years in the Navy were from small towns just looking for a way to get out and become something.
"The Sailor of old so the stories be told he is known for some
infamous things; for the liquor and fight and his strong appetite for women and crude ballads he sings"
And though old labels remain, like a haunting refrain, the old attributes no longer agree. For, if truth be unfurled, the old stamps would be hurled to the depths of the Caspian sea.
For the Sailor reborn is scrubbed clean free of scorn, like the
chivalrous ages of past, with an honor bound code, we can sing the ode to the Gentleman Sailor at last!!.

It's funny you ask that. I'm assuming from your name that you are or were one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. I was stationed with both marines and sailors and it seemed that the USMC beat out the Navy for your first question. The marines liked to pick fights more often but a sailor could out drink a jarhead any day. As for low lifes and thugs, they exist in every branch but are the minority.

Most sailors aren't gay but after being stuck on a ship for weeks at a time we sure did drink a lot and with drinking comes fights but the guys who wanted to fight wanted to fight before they got drunk.

As a 9 year Army vet that had a retired Navy Father in Law I say yes to all except that only most are gay.
You left out the joke about how the Marines are taught to not pee on themselfs so they don't have to wash their hands.

That's funny, but we hear the same thing about MARINES as far as DRINKING AND FIGHTING and being THUGS.
Guess where ALL the U.S. military comes from. THE CIVILIAN COMMUNITY. If the person is gay or a drunk or a thug in civilian life, there's a good chance he'll be like that in the military.
I hope you're not as ignorant as you come across as being.

Are you really one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children? If you were you'd know none of those are true.
