Does it come after you eat? If so then you've overeaten and your stomach is all up in your diaphragm. Once you throw up and make room, it feels better. It could be bloating as well causing stomach expansion. Start taking gas-x, beano or simethicone when you eat.

It is all related to the physiology of your body when it undergoes stress. It sound like you are clearing the mucus from an asthma attack. Throwing up, would help to clear your lungs. To know for sure please go in to the doctor and tell them of your symptoms.

do you tend to eat a whole lot right before you cant breathe?

you may be getting your stomach too full, and its pushing against your diaphram which makes it difficult to breathe, when you vomit , it releases the pressure on your diaphram making it easier to breathe again.
