How do i tell people in spanish, I can understand more than i can speak using correct verb form?

Question

I can understand spanish pretty well since my dad is mexican and most of his family is fluent in spanish, i hardly ever see them but when we get together everyone speaks in spanish. I was wondering how do i say to the spanish speakers that come to my job. I understand more than i speak.

I know things like Es todo and que quieres. I know my vocab fairly well and i would be pretty good at speaking if i could conjugate my verbs. Please help! thank you

yo comprendo, pero no puedo conjugar los verbos tan rápidamente como usted.
I have the same problem... I get stuck going through the endings as I learned them in school (o, as, a, amos, an)
and I can't do future or past tense at all.
Practice makes perfect though. I got alot better when I worked in a carpet mill with alot of hispanics that spoke both spanish and english. They helped me alot.

I would just say, "Entiendo espanol, pero no lo hablo muy bien." It's ok if it's not perfect. As long as you get your point across. If you tell them in perfect spanish they always want to question whether you actually do speak spanish or not.

If you want to say it to spanish speakers that come to your job, taht you can nderstand more than you can speak, you have to use this:

Puedo entender más de lo que puedo decir (literally)

Puedo entender bastante bien el español, pero me cuesta más hablarlo...( I can understand pretty well spanish, but for me it's more complcated to speak it)

I recommend you to use the last one, because the meaning you want to sat it's clearer, but both of them are right, so you're free to choose the one you like most.

If you want to talk to people you don't know (like people who come to your work), you have to use the polite form "usted" in the conjugation. For example, you could say this sentences. They are so practice, in this situation :

¿qué es lo que desea/quiere (usted)?...(what do you want?)
¿puedo ayudarle (a usted)?....(can I help you?)
¿necesita (usted) ayuda/algo más?.....(do you need help/something more?)
¿podría (usted) repetir?.....(Could you repeat?)

"Usted" is in brackets because it's normally omited.

if you want to say :

"I can understand what you are saying, i just cant say it back to you in spanish, i can understand more then i can speak."


spanish :

"Puedo entender lo que estás diciendo, yo apenas biselo la opinión él de nuevo a ti en español, yo puedo entender que más entonces puedo hablar."


or simply say :

"I can understand more spanish then i can speak."

"Puedo entender que más español entonces puedo hablar."
