The joys would be knowing you are God's chosen and will be heaven bound. The difficulties would be putting up with the non believers and the people wanting to kill you. Read all about it in Acts.

One difficulty is being a good example. People expect you to be perfect when you are a Minister. No one is. We all have our issues to correct but a disciple must not fall short. When we do, we are judged harshly, yet the eyes that are looking upon us in judgment have not removed the boards from their own.
Another is what Jesus said, a prophet is not welcome in his own home. I was ordained and it was hard for people to believe it. I have been questioned more by my own family and my wife's family and my friends than anyone else.
The joy I have is helping others to realize the Love God has for them and being a servant of God. There is no greater Joy that that. I have cried tears of Joy just listening to some faith music or seeing one of the religious painting I have worked on come to life. I sometimes wonder where they came from. I have actually stepped back and wept at the sight.

The difficulties involve persecution because you are following a different path than that of the world, and maintaining your faith in the face of adversity.
The joys of course far outweigh the difficulties because the difficulties only last here on earth, but the joys that accompany your discipleship are eternal. The joys include knowing and having a personal relationship with the God that created you and sharing that joy with others, and experiencing the greatest love internal peace you could ever know.

Some joys of being a deciple of Jesus are that you always have someone to talk to! If you are in doubt, just pray and he will tell you the right thing to do if you believe enough. Also you get to go to heaven! That is going to be the best thing in the world. And, Jesus will forgive you for anything! Even if it is the worst thing in the world, he'll forgive you! Some disadvantages are that sometimes, Jesus will know that you are doing something wrong, and you will feel guilty! There aren't many disadvantages because, who wouldn't want an additional friend??? He is the most trustworthy person that you could have!
Follow Jesus!

It was John who wrote the Gospel of John, the letters 1, 2, & 3 John, and the book of Revelation. No they do not because each Gospel comes from a different point of view, at least in terms of the human perspective. 2 Tim. 3:16-17-- "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work." Under God's inspiration and influence, John wrote these books of the Bible. John did this for modesty sake and for the fact that Jesus gave John the sole responsibility to take care of His mother Mary at the foot of the cross. (John 19:24-27) There is a historical significance to this changing of responsibility but has little to do with your question so I will save it for another time. If you were to do a word find in the book of John, the only time you would find the name John it is referring to John the Baptist or Peter's father, not John the disciple. Jesus did love all of his disciples.

I haven't really face many difficulties so far, since I've been going to a private Christian school. Some difficulties... like turning the other cheek, being a servant, sometimes obedience, etc. Some joys are feeling His presence, seeing how God used you to affect someone's life and stuff like that.

The joys outnumber the difficulties. The main difficulty is that there will be people who will hate you because of your Christian faith (Jesus said so, too).
The joy is serving the Lord and His people.

The main difficulty is that you are no longer true to your inner consciousness. Your rely on other people for your viewpoint and lose critical judgment. The joy is the knowledge you are right and are safe. However this is similar to a child who believes everything an adult tells them. In other to develop spiritually you have to learn to act independently.

A joy of NOT being a disciple of Jesus is that I answer to no one.

To start ...I do believe that JESUS lived..but that's where I tend to stray from the norm. I have studied a bit of it ...and I tend to think JESUS may have faked the Resurection in an attempt at power. OH .. don't get me started or I'll be typing all night ! Just read a book called 'THE PASSOVER PLOT'. It'll raise a lot of ques. and I've found some of the ans. in my beliefs !
