For the same reason that we believe in science..it's called faith.

This may not sound like a logical answer but it is. I believe in God in the same way I believe in science. I've never seen God but I've never seen the Big Bang either. I never met Jesus in the flesh but I've also never seen a neutron or electron.

We Christians have a certain amount of physical evidence to back up events mentioned in the Bible but mostly we take it on faith just as there is a certain amount of visible evidence for scientific theories but we have to take that on faith as well.

I can't "prove" to anyone that God is real but scientist can't "prove" the age of a rock.

There are conflicting theories about the nature of God but there are conflicting theories about the law of gravity i.e. Aristotelian theory of gravity, Nordström's theory of gravitation etc. yet everyone assumes Newton's theory is the correct one.

Like I said, it's just a matter of what you have faith in. I personally have more faith that God exists than I have in scientific theories that say He doesn't.

Do you know how many times a day I answer this. I believe in God, by choice, through Faith. Faith does not require proof and cannot live in an environment of proof. I made a conscious decision to believe. Just as I made a decision to believe in evolution, science, psychology, medicine, my friends, family and other loved ones.

I have no set of reasons, only that it was the right choice for me.

Because I believe there is some force in the universe beyond the human. There is within us some undefinable, inexplicable part, our soul or spirit, and that part of myself seeks connection with God. I don't believe in God as a cosmic santa or even a divine judge. I believe in God as something "wholly other," as the origin of creation, the divine force that creates and re-creates. I believe God seeks connection and relationship with us as well, a God of relationship, who suffers with us and with creation, and desires wholeness as we do.

I believe in God because when you look around, it all points to Him. When you do more research and everything, it all points to an ultimate creator, who is God. I've also been raised in a loving Christian family. I believe all my blessings have come from somewhere, and that somewhere just points directly to God.

I had an acquaintence one time that said Christianity was for weak people. Not to long after that he got in serious trouble and went throughj several years of anguish and the threat of prison, and I always wondered if he changed his mind. "the law is a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ".
