I don't live at home so it is no biggie, but I'd like to visit once in a while. To make matters worst (for my mom) I am an atheist. How can I get those 2 to get along? how would you handle it?

You can't force two people to get along. All you can do is find some common ground. The funny thing is Catholicism and Wicca were derived from the same religious base.

Let me put it to you this way, your mon should accept your girlfriend simply because she is deserving of being with dignity on account of being a human being. Having said that, your mom does not have to respect her belief system. Your girlfriend, needs to do the same for your mom. You need to do the same for both.

It's best if you and your girlfriend maintain contact with you mom. As a Catholic parent myself, I sympathize with your mother.

Perhaps, for the time being, you need to all agree that your belief systems, or lack thereof, do not become a topic for conversation. This way, everyone will get to know each other without personal belief systems getting in the way.

Having said that, you can't avoid discussing belief systems forever. Perhaps, after you've all gotten to know each other, and you all feel you can carry on a discussion about belief systems - KEEPING IT CIVIL THE ENTIRE TIME - there's no reason you three can't get along.

They won't ever get along. Plain and simple. That's a drastic difference. Especially with you being an atheist... that's not going to go over well with your girlfriend in the long run either.

Christians are called to love one another and their enemies too by praying for them, doing good for them. I'm not implying your girlfriend is your mother's enemy.

If your mother doesn't like your girlfriend, that's her choice. We don't like everyone on Earth. Everyone doesn't like us. If people don't like each other they can lead each other into sin just by being around each other causing ill feelings and anger. These are sins to Christians as serious as murder.

Christians are called to love everyone but sometimes, most times, the best we can do for them is pray for them. Sometimes we need to be apart from them to make our prayers effective.

Why does your mom know she's a witch? That's gonna be trouble right there.

I date a witch but neither my mother or my kids know. I'm 43.
