For example, i go to the ATM machine, they say ENTER 1 FOR ENGLISH, ENTER 2 FOR SPANISH!
I call my cell phone provider, they say ENTER 1 for English, ENTER 2 for spanish
Is it for a marketting purpose? Like maybe, those companies want to reach more people?
Because that will be great if they have French too, or Arabic or German!
Are the USA becoming a two language country?
Doesn't it bother anybody?
I think that this simple thing will lead to a bigger problem in the USA, one day!

The way the illegals are flocking in this country I think pretty soon it will be Enter 1 for Spanish and 2 for English. Pretty sad we have all sat back and let this happen.

To be honest, I'm not too fond of the French. If not having directions written in French causes them to screw up, and possibly do something humiliating, I'm all for it!
Seriously, the companies translate for the most common languages predicted to read the information. I guess, by your argument, they should have the information in every language known to man? That's not practical, and I wouldn't want to buy the product because I get tired of sifting through tons of information that I can't read to find the English section.

Spanish if the third most spoken language in the world, with Chinese first and English second. French...is not that global! and yes, there are a LOT of immigrants from Latin America. while yes, it does disturb me that we are making it easier for them to continue spanish instead of learning english, it is the quickest solution to our immigration problems now. now if we made it REQUIRED to learn at least SOME english...there wouldn't need to be Spanish EVERYWHERE! but yes, we choose to take shortcuts, and instead of making them change their language, we change ours.

Businesses had adopted English and Spanish as the main languages in order to get more customers. Marketing strategy adopted this bilingual method to have more profits but offensive to English-speaking people.

Well, in Northern Maine, where I live, there are plenty of French speaking people ... AMERICANS, not immigrants ... in fact, most of them are bilingual, and unlike the Hispanic illegals, they do not get up on their soap boxes and demand French on the ATM machines or anywhere else for that matter ... they know they are Americans, and they speak English when required! Something our Hispanic "friends" could take note of ...

you know i am so happy you brought this up. please call your senator and ask them this same thing. we have to either push 1 for English and 2 for spanish. I'm wondering why the phone system is not set up for other languages. i think i will also make this call and ask the same thing. people that come here LEGALLY, and can't speak English need to be treated with the same respect. great question.
