i am sure most of you have experienced the awful shoulder sun burn. especially if you are the red hair fair skin type that always over estimates the power of a little sunscreen. So why is it that someone that should be used to these sunburns, and know every trick in the book asking for help. Well because you see i have been doing really well as far as the whole no burning thing this year. wearing hat, applying spf 50. but just now i kinda slipped.
I have already done the whole aloe vera gel thing, and that works for a little while, but here is the other thing. I have to preform a show on thursday in a tank leotard, and my teacher is going to kill me.
please help me get out of this stingy red mess, and fast.
thank you

I am too a slow (or stubborn) learner, for too much sun. The best relief and healing I've used isn plain white vinegar. Put it on straight from the bottle with a soft cloth or just your hands and apply to your shoulders as musch as needed. Also take cool (not cold) baths and add lots of vinegar to your bath water and just soak. DO NOT ADD any kind of lotions with oils. That holds in the heat and makes it feel worse. Only after the pain is gone can you add lotion. Don;t worry about the stinky vinegar smell, it goes away a few minutes after applying. I hope you can tolerate the leotard that soon, I really feel sorry for you on that one! I can;t stand wearing anything other than soft cotton when I'm burned. Hopefully the vinegar will take the pain out quick enough for you to get through it. I wish you the best of luck!!! ALSO, another good trick is put a box of corn starch in the freezer. When your skin is dry, you can put that on your burn. It's very relieving and will keep your clothes from irritating the burn.

Your skin is inflamed from being in the sun, so besides using aloe vera and using cool compresses, take some ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory) at the prescribed dosage. This should bring down some of the inflammation and also make you feel better.
